Inter Milan Step Up Pursuit of Crystal Palace Star Marc Guehi

    [ad_1]

Inter Milan are ramping up their efforts to sign Crystal Palace and England centre-back Marc Guehi, with Liverpool and Manchester United also hot on the trail. According to TEAMtalk, the Serie A champions are eager to beat their Premier League rivals to the punch in the race for the highly-rated 24-year-old defender.

Guehi’s Rise and Why He’s in Demand

Since his move from Chelsea to Palace in 2021, Guehi has grown into one of the Premier League’s most consistent and composed centre-backs. With over 150 appearances and leadership experience as a stand-in captain, his blend of maturity and athleticism has attracted scouts across Europe.

Liverpool have kept tabs on him for months, eyeing a long-term successor to Virgil van Dijk and seeking added depth with Ibrahima Konaté’s future uncertain. Meanwhile, United’s interest raises eyebrows, given their already-crowded defensive line—though Guehi’s reliability could offer insurance against frequent injuries.

    Inter Milan’s Defensive Revamp

Inter’s interest signals serious intent. With veteran defenders Francesco Acerbi and Stefan de Vrij nearing the end of their top-flight careers, the Nerazzurri see Guehi as the ideal profile to anchor their backline for years to come. Talks are expected to intensify in the coming weeks.

As the summer window heats up, Guehi’s future looks increasingly likely to involve a high-profile switch—now the question is: Premier League or Serie A?

  • Casemiro makes typically combative return to international action for Brazil – Man United News And Transfer News

Casemiro makes typically combative return to international action for Brazil – Man United News And Transfer News

    [ad_1]

Manchester United had three players involved in CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers.

Casemiro made his return to the Brazil national team after his former boss at Real Madrid, Carlo Ancelotti, was named manager. He was captain at the 2022 World Cup but has not been involved in the national team set-up for about a year.

The 33 year old started in the centre of the park and put in an impressive shift in his side’s 0-0 draw against Ecuador.

He played the entire 90 minutes, completing 72% of his passing attempts.

Casemiro was also an attacking threat, having one shot on target and one off as his side failed to break down a stubborn Ecuador side in Guayaquil.

As usual though, his most impressive work came in the middle of the park as he won six out of nine ground duels.

He also impressively won all four of his aerial battles, dominating the middle of the park like he had never been away.

The midfield enforcer was also heavily involved defensively, making six clearances and a total of five tackles.

Commenting in a post-match interview, Casemiro lamented the state of the pitch in Ecuador.

He claimed, “I think the pitch didn’t really help the match. I always say you can’t have excuses but the pitch, the field, didn’t help a lot.”

United also had new signing Matheus Cunha on the bench and he played the final 26 minutes.

Unfortunately, he failed to have much of an impact on the game, as he could only complete seven passes and failed in his only dribble attempt.

Cunha was also unable to get off any shots on goal in the stalemate.

United’s loan star at Real Betis, Antony, was named on the bench but he did not manage to get any minutes of action.

Brazil will next be in action on Tuesday evening (Wednesday morning UK time) when they face Paraguay at home.

Manuel Ugarte also started for Uruguay in their 0-2 defeat to Paraguay.

He played the entire 90 minutes of action and made 79% of his passes.

Ugarte impressively connected with all six of his long range passes as he tried to propel his team forward. He won 100% of his aerials duels and was typically combative in the middle of the park, winning eight ground duels.

Ugarte as usual, was highly involved in the defensive dirty work, making five clearances and four tackles.

He will hope his side can bounce back from defeat when they host Venezuela on Tuesday evening (Wednesday morning UK time).

  • Ollie Watkins could be great Arsenal signing

    [ad_1]

ARSENAL are still considering Ollie Watkins as their statement summer striker signing, and he could be a very good signing for Mikel Arteta’s squad this transfer window.

Arsenal once again failed to win that Premier League season, despite a very impressive campaign for Gunners fans to watch, while they also failed to win any of the cup competitions that they were also in.

That has led to many reports in the media that Mikel Arteta is desperate to to improve the side and add a new striker to that attack, with many reports in the media claiming that Benjamin Sesko is the forward the Spaniard wants.

Arsenal are said to have entered talks with RB Leipzig over a deal for Benjamin Sesko, while they remain strongly linked with prolific Sporting Lisbon talisman Viktor Gyokeres.

But according to The Athletic, another move for Watkins this summer has not been discounted at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners made a shock late move to sign the England international back in the January transfer window, only to see a £60m bid firmly rebuffed as Aston Villa sold fellow forward Jhon Duran to Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia.

Iomie Stanley told icfootballnews: ‘Watkins is a proven Premier League player that can score 20-30 goals a season when he is fit, there have been calls for many seasons from ARSENAL fans that he should be signed, but the money has always been too high.

‘However – Arteta is desperate to sign a striker that suite the style of play that he likes to employ, and the way that Watkins plays, the desire that he shows, he would be a brilliant addition to that Gunners squad.

‘Aston Villa dont want to sell Watkins, but if the money is right, they Arsenal could very well get a deal done for Watkins

‘And to be honest, there are quite a few Arsenal fans that would like to see the player arrive too.’

  • BVB on verge of signing Jobe Bellingham

BVB on verge of signing Jobe Bellingham

    [ad_1]

Borussia Dortmund are closing in on a major coup, with Sunderland wonderkid Jobe Bellingham set to join the Bundesliga outfit—leaving Manchester United and Tottenham trailing in his wake.

According to TEAMtalk, Dortmund have made serious strides in their pursuit of the 19-year-old midfielder, who enjoyed a breakout season in the Championship. After a stellar 2024/25 campaign—featuring in 43 games and contributing seven goal involvements—Bellingham played a pivotal role in Sunderland’s promotion push to the Premier League.

Despite Sunderland’s eagerness to extend his contract beyond 2028 and keep him for at least one more season, they now face an uphill battle. Interest from elite clubs has surged, and Bellingham’s days at the Stadium of Light appear numbered.

Both Manchester United and Tottenham have scouted the teenage prodigy extensively. Spurs, under their revamped youth-focused recruitment model, view Bellingham as an ideal addition to bolster their midfield. Meanwhile, United are on a mission to inject youth into their squad, with manager Ruben Amorim reportedly keen on his versatility and potential.

But it’s Dortmund who lead the race—thanks in part to their strong relationship with the Bellingham family. Having developed Jude Bellingham into a world-class talent, they’ve positioned themselves as the perfect springboard for his younger brother’s next step.

Sebastian Kehl is expected to push the deal forward soon, with a fee in the region of €40 million being discussed. It might sound steep now—but in a few years, it could look like a bargain.

  • Mike Maignan perfect signing for Chelsea

    [ad_1]

Frank Lebeouf has opened up and claimed that Mike Maignan would be welcome at CHELSEA, but the club do not need to prioritise adding a new goalkeeper to the side.

Winning a trophy and getting Champions League football last season is more than what many people had planned for Chelsea and Enzo Maresca, but the Italian boss really has done a great job at the club.

But there have been many reports in the media that we are looking to improve a number of areas in the squad and adding a new stopper to the side is something that will reportedly help us really win that Premier League title.

Robert Sanchez has been a massive part of that side this season – but he is not seen as a man that is good enough to play for one of the big Premier League clubs and has really struggled to impress.

That has led to alot of speculation in the media that we will once again delve into that transfer kitty and add a new goalkeeper to the side, and Maignon is a man that has been linked with a move to London for a while.

And amid the speculation, Leboeuf has said that he is an admirer of ‘exceptional’ Maignan but believes his former club should prioritise a move for an experienced centre-back over a new shot-stopper.

‘I love Mike and think the guy is so exceptional and would fit perfectly at Chelsea,’ he added.

‘But if CHELSEA are going to make an exception in their transfers they should get a new Thiago Silva, that would be better than an experienced goalkeeper.

‘That would be my decision. But if they decide to go for Mike, that’s a good decision as he is the real deal. He would be very useful to Chelsea.’

    IcFootballnews says…

Look, Chelsea do need to add a new goalkeeper to that squad and Maignan could be a great signing, it is that simple.

  • Data suggests that Man United target Viktor Gyokeres would score only 15 Premier League goals – Man United News And Transfer News

Data suggests that Man United target Viktor Gyokeres would score only 15 Premier League goals – Man United News And Transfer News

    [ad_1]

Data analysis has shown that Manchester United target Viktor Gyokeres would likely only score 15 goals in the Premier League were he to move this summer.

The Red Devils were incredibly wasteful in attack last season and have already agreed a deal to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Matheus Cunha.

In addition, the club have made their first bid and are in active negotiations for Brentford attacker Bryan Mbeumo.

Nonetheless, head coach Ruben Amorim is said to have given up on starting striker Rasmus Hojlund and is desperate to land his former forward at Sporting CP, Viktor Gyokeres.

The Swede has been on fire this season, scoring 54 goals and providing 13 assists in all competitions.

The Telegraph have reported though that any potential suitors in England could expect Gyokeres’ production to slow down massively due to other players’ performances who have arrived from Portugal.

The report suggests that “Viktor Gyokeres is scoring goals for fun for Sporting Lisbon but history suggests attackers from the Primeira Liga do not fare so well in the Premier League.”

The research “analysed the 15 most expensive attacking Premier League signings from Portugal, France, Germany, Italy and Spain over the past 15 years”, in order to determine who carried the best goalscoring form over to England. The player’s goal-per-game ratio in their final season abroad was compared with “their subsequent goals-per-game record in England.”

The paper warns that none of the signings from Portugal have been able to match their output in England. Generally speaking, in the case of United and most Premier League clubs, players from the Primeira Liga do tend to adapt quite well in the Premier League.

Nonetheless, their production still significantly drops. This can be witnessed in the fact that Darwin Núñez, Luis Díaz, Evanilson, Fabio Vieira and United’s own Bruno Fernandes, have seen a decrease in the volume of goals they score in England.

The report adds, “even the likes of Díaz and Fernandes, who have unquestionably been successful signings, have been unable to maintain the goalscoring rate they showed in their final campaigns in Portugal.”

In fact, data highlights that players face a 62 per cent decline in goalscoring when they move from Portugal to England.

This stands to reason owing to the fact that the Premier League is objectively a tougher and higher quality league than the Portuguese equivalent.

The Telegraph claim, “these players averaged 0.41 goals per game in their last seasons in Portugal, and have subsequently produced an average of 0.15 goals per game in England.”

In fact, out of the 15 players analysed, only Raúl Jiménez scored at a faster rate in England than in Portugal.

Nonetheless, it must be said that none of the players scored at the colossal rate that Gyokeres has in Portugal. It is natural that he would be unlikely to be able to replicate his 39 goals in Portugal in the Premier League but even 20 would be a massive upgrade on the four that Hojlund managed last term.

What’s more, the Swede has already experienced significant game time in England owing to his experience with Coventry City in the past.

Finally, while the results are interesting, it also has to be mentioned that every player is unique and arrives in different circumstances. A hypothetical move to Old Trafford for Gyokeres would see him arrive at a team playing in a formation he is incredibly comfortable in and also with a manager who has got the very best out of him previously.

  • AC Milan Eye Bold Move for Tottenham Star Destiny Udogie

AC Milan Eye Bold Move for Tottenham Star Destiny Udogie

    [ad_1]

AC Milan are plotting an ambitious summer swoop for Tottenham Hotspur left-back Destiny Udogie as uncertainty looms over Theo Hernandez’s future at San Siro.

According to Corriere della Sera (via Sport Witness), the Rossoneri are keen to strengthen their left side, with Hernandez linked to Saudi Arabian giants Al-Hilal and no progress on a contract renewal. Udogie, along with Junior Firpo and Maxim De Cuyper, has emerged as a serious option for Milan.

Udogie’s Rollercoaster Ride in North London

Since making his move from Udinese to Spurs in 2022, Udogie has shown flashes of brilliance but also moments of inconsistency. The 22-year-old has notched over 50 appearances for Tottenham, contributing two goals and four assists while adapting to the pace of Premier League football. His performances have attracted attention from elite clubs, including Manchester City.

Can Milan Bring Udogie Back to Serie A?

Udogie’s potential return to Italy would be a homecoming for the Verona-born full-back. However, Tottenham reportedly value him at around €50 million and remain reluctant to sell. Milan face a tough task if they wish to prise him away from North London, but with Hernandez potentially on the move, the pressure to secure a top-tier replacement is growing.

Whether AC Milan can tempt Spurs into negotiations remains to be seen—but this transfer saga is one to watch closely.
