Despite delivering strong performances at Villa Park, the option to make his move permanent for £40 million seems unlikely to be exercised.
The 27-year-old remains focused on securing a move to a Champions League club, with Barcelona emerging as his preferred destination.
Following Villa’s defeat at Old Trafford on the final day of the season, Unai Emery’s side is unable to offer Rashford the European football he desires.
Rumors linking him to Barcelona persist, and the club’s sporting director, Deco, recently addressed the situation in an interview.
Deco emphasized that Barcelona has no intention of selling their top players and confirmed that the club is planning to make a few key signings rather than engaging in excessive spending.
When questioned about whether Barcelona’s plans included signing Rashford, or Liverpool forward Luis Diaz, he said: “We have been focusing on renewing contracts, after that, we’ll discuss players to come.
“Of course, these two players, like you mentioned, they are good but have contracts in their clubs, so we won’t speak because it’s not fair. But when you decide to go to the market, for sure, we find some names. In my opinion, we don’t need to bring many players.”
Deco added: “When I speak with the agents of the players, everyone wants to come or stay. So this is important. The image of the club is still good.
“We are proud because Barcelona is still such a big club, and the way we are playing football makes players want to come.”
He also downplayed suggestions that the club is facing financial issues, but acknowledged that they must be strategic in the transfer market.
As a result, Barcelona may view Rashford as a shrewd signing, given his modest £40m price tag this summer for a player who is worth much more when he’s at his best.
