Predicted Man United XI vs Aston Villa: Chido Obi and Ayden Heaven to start – Man United News And Transfer News

    [ad_1]

It is not true that there is nothing to play for as Manchester United take the field for the last Premier League match of their dismal 2024/25 campaign against Aston Villa today.

The Red Devils could finish as low as 17th and as high as 14th depending on their and others’ results, which means a difference of around £10 million in prize money.

It’s therefore likely head coach Ruben Amorim will put out a side he thinks can win the game, but he is likely to also lay a foundation for the type of side he wants to start building for the 2025/26 season.

Andre Onana is one player who could be sidelined after a poor season, giving Altay Bayindir a chance in goal.

Ayden Heaven and Leny Yoro are likely to start and represent beacons of hope for next season. Harry Maguire could be the third centre back if Matthijs de Ligt has not recovered from injury.

With Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans set to leave and Lisandro Martinez injured, it’s possible that Amorim will look to Heaven, De Ligt and Yoro as youthful starting trio going forward, with Maguire, Luke Shaw, Noussair Mazraoui and Martinez as backups.

Diogo Dalot is a trusted lieutenant so he could play today at right wing back, with Patrick Dorgu on the left.

Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte could be the central midfield pair. There have been reports of a big offer from Saudi Arabia for Fernandes so if he does not make the starting XI, rumours will spread like wildfire.

Casemiro, Toby Collyer and Kobbie Mainoo are also options to start the game.

Up front, it’s likely that Amorim finally pulls the plug on Rasmus Hojlund’s dreadful campaign and gives the even younger Chido Obi a start.

With Alejandro Garnacho on his way out of the club, Josh Zirkzee and Amad will probably support Obi, although Mason Mount is another option.

If results give way to sentimentality, Lindelof, Jonny Evans and Christian Eriksen might feature at some point as they say goodbye to the club.

With all that in mind, here is our predicted starting XI for today’s 4pm kick-off at Old Trafford:

  • Chelsea close in on signing Marc Guehi

Chelsea close in on signing Marc Guehi

    [ad_1]

Chelsea are prepared to ramp up their interest in Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi—if they secure Champions League qualification on the final day of the Premier League season.

According to Football Insider, the Blues view Guehi as a priority signing this summer and believe a top-five finish would give them the edge in the race for the 24-year-old England international. Chelsea face a decisive clash against Nottingham Forest, with Champions League qualification potentially unlocking significant transfer moves.

Guehi, a product of Chelsea’s academy, has long been on the club’s radar. The Blues are expected to have a relatively stable summer, but their transfer direction hinges largely on their European status. A return to top-tier continental competition would boost their appeal to elite targets like Guehi.

Newcastle United also remain firmly in the mix for the Palace centre-back, while Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, and Liverpool are monitoring the situation closely. Spurs are buoyed by their Europa League success, but Guehi’s desire for Champions League football could tip the scales.

Despite Crystal Palace’s strong campaign—culminating in an FA Cup triumph and Europa League qualification—Guehi is expected to leave in search of a bigger challenge. With a more reasonable fee now being discussed, Arsenal and Liverpool could reignite their interest after missing out on Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid.

West Ham Closing In on €35M Deal for Galatasaray Star Baris Alper Yilmaz

    [ad_1]

West Ham United are edging closer to a summer swoop for Galatasaray forward Baris Alper Yilmaz, with a reported price tag of €30-35 million. The 24-year-old Turkish international has become a top target for the Hammers as they seek attacking reinforcements.

According to Turkish journalist Sezgin Gelmez via Haber Sarikirmizi, negotiations between the two clubs are progressing well, with Yilmaz’s move to London “on the table”. Galatasaray are open to letting him go—if the price is right.

Yilmaz has grown in stature since joining Gala from Ankara Keciorengucu in 2021. Known for his pace, versatility, and tireless work rate, he has netted 14 goals and supplied six assists in 48 games across all competitions this season. His ability to play anywhere across the frontline makes him a perfect fit for West Ham’s tactical setup.

The East Londoners are preparing for potential exits of key stars Mohammed Kudus and Lucas Paquetá, and Yilmaz is seen as an ideal replacement. With Premier League rivals also circling, West Ham may need to act swiftly to wrap up the deal.

This move could mark a bold statement of intent by the Hammers—and a major opportunity for Yilmaz to shine on the Premier League stage.

Manchester United slash Rasmus Hojlund’s asking price with Juventus preparing first offer – Man United News And Transfer News

    [ad_1]

Ruben Amorim’s decision to start Rasmus Hojlund up front for Manchester United’s Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur was one of the major decisions the head coach got wrong.

The Dane has been in miserable form all season, and the Portuguese tactician should have gone for a much bolder approach, even a false nine system, with Joshua Zirkzee not fit to start.

However, his selection call backfired as expected, and it is clear that the Denmark international should not be anywhere close to starting for a club of United’s stature.

INEOS want to sell him but are aware that his disastrous form means the club are unlikely to recoup anywhere close to
the initial €75 million they paid Atalanta for his services in 2023.

    Rasmus Hojlund price slashed

Initially, the co-owners had slapped a €60 million price tag on the United No 9’s head amid interest from Juventus but the Turin-based club had no intention of going that high.

Now, as per Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness), the Red Devils have decided to slash Hojlund’s asking price by €10 million with the report claiming United will “happily cash in between €50m and €55m” from the sale.

The Bianconeri need a striker and also have Victor Osimhen on their list of targets but the feeling is the ex-Atalanta player’s relatively his low wages would make him a safer target.

The 22-year-old earns £85,000 gross per week (via capology), while the Nigerian would command £300,000 gross per week minimum while Napoli are also hesitant to sell to a direct rival.

Juventus deal for Rasmus Hojlund dependant on CL qualification

The report also mentions that Champions League qualification would make it easy for Juventus to afford Rasmus Hojlund.

Juve are currently fourth, and can qualify by sealing a win against Venezia, who are fighting to stave off relegation, on Sunday.

Based on Hojlund’s form, it still seems more likely that United could be forced into loaning him out to try and restore his value, much like the Antony and Jadon Sancho operations.

Juventus have been linked with a loan approach as well while there is also interest from Turkey. It will be intriguing to see how INEOS go about clearing this mess in the summer.

  • Leeds United Eye Callum Wilson to Bolster Premier League Return

Leeds United Eye Callum Wilson to Bolster Premier League Return

    [ad_1]

Leeds United are reportedly plotting a move for Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson as they prepare for life back in the Premier League.

According to Football Insider, the experienced forward is expected to be available on a free transfer this summer after Newcastle decided against renewing his contract. Despite injury struggles in recent seasons, Leeds boss Daniel Farke is keen to inject proven Premier League pedigree into his squad—and Wilson fits the bill.

The 33-year-old boasts 88 top-flight goals and was pivotal during Newcastle’s 2022/23 campaign, scoring 18 times and notching five assists. However, the emergence of Alexander Isak and recurring fitness issues have limited his impact since.

Wilson featured just 21 times this season, netting once, but his track record remains impressive. With Joel Piroe thriving in the Championship, Leeds still seek added firepower and experience for their Premier League campaign.

Farke believes Wilson’s know-how and sharp instincts could provide crucial depth—and a major bargain—as a free signing. If the striker stays fit, he could become a key piece in Leeds’ top-flight puzzle.

Leeds are expected to be active in the summer window, with the ownership ready to back their manager after a strong promotion-winning season. Bringing in Wilson could be the first of several savvy moves at Elland Road.

Man United squad divided over “overconfident” Ruben Amorim as concerns grow over his stubborn approach – Man United News And Transfer News

    [ad_1]

The Manchester United players are reportedly split over whether or not Ruben Amorim is the right man for the job, as doubts surface over his rigid tactical approach and football philosophy.

This comes in the immediate aftermath of United’s 1-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final on Wednesday evening.

Brennan Johnson’s first-half goal was all Tottenham needed to run away with the trophy and condemn United to what is now undoubtedly the most calamitous campaign in their modern history.

The Red Devils could finish as low as 17th heading into the final round of Premier League games this weekend. They’ve suffered 18 top-flight defeats and performances have left a lot to be desired.

Earlier today, a report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that the United hierarchy are not planning on sacking Amorim despite how bad the season has been.

It was stated that the club’s focus is on backing the Portuguese coach and giving him the tools necessary to make the team a truly competitive outfit once again.

However, according to Chris Wheeler of the Daily Mail, while a section of players have publicly come out to support Amorim, there are others who are not confident about his ability to turn things around at Old Trafford.

After the final whistle at San Mames, the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Luke Shaw and Diogo Dalot all stressed that Amorim will come good at United.

Wheeler claims, “A number of other players feel the 40-year-old is too over-confident in his approach, and cannot understand why he puts so much faith in a playing system that is not suited to the squad he inherited in November.”

“A number of their [Shaw, Fernandes and Dalot] teammates have reservations over Amorim remaining in charge if he continues to insist on using a 3-4-3 formation and tactics that have seen United lose 16 of his 41 games in charge.”

In his post-match press conference, Amorim reiterated that he will change nothing about his system and the way he sets up his players.

If Wheeler’s claims are accurate, then the group of players who’ve lost faith in Amorim face a simple choice: fall in line or leave the club. That said, there’s currently no strong indication that Amorim has lost the dressing room, so this report should be taken with a pinch of salt until it’s corroborated by additional sources.
