The Portuguese coach, who has struggled to bring significant improvement since replacing Erik ten Hag earlier in the season, has already discussed potential departures with United co-owner and football operations chief Jim Ratcliffe.
Among those who could be leaving Old Trafford are Andre Onana, Luke Shaw, and Rasmus Hojlund, with Brazilian midfielder Casemiro also on the list.
Unlike many of his teammates, Casemiro has shown signs of resurgence under Amorim, delivering strong performances in the Europa League that earned widespread praise.
Amorim himself was impressed, reportedly sharing his positive assessment of Casemiro with Ratcliffe in a recent message.
“Amorim and Ratcliffe speak every week by phone and occasionally communicate in a WhatsApp group that includes other senior club figures,” reported the MEN.
“The Portuguese head coach is understood to share his thoughts after each game in a mini-match report, while data is fed into the group chat too.
“And his thoughts on Casemiro go some way to showing the player’s considerable improvement over the course of this season, having initially been used sparingly by Amorim.”
Casemiro arrived at Manchester United following a successful spell at Real Madrid, where he secured multiple La Liga and Champions League titles over nearly a decade.
His transfer to United was reportedly valued at £60 million, including various add-ons that may not have been fully activated.
The Brazilian midfielder has earned 75 international caps, but there is growing sentiment that he is no longer at his peak in the Premier League.
Despite delivering strong performances in the Europa League and adding experience to United’s midfield, reports suggest that Jim Ratcliffe and Ruben Amorim are now prepared to part ways with him.
