And Salah was quick to defend his former teammates while recognising the strong business Liverpool have done this summer.

Upon signing for Liverpool, Isak said: “I feel amazing. It’s been a long journey to get here. But I’m super-happy to be a part of this team, this club and everything it stands for. It’s something I’m proud of and I’m really looking forward to it.

“It’s mixed emotions – some relief but a lot of pride, happiness. I’m just happy it’s done and that I can get back to work. I’m looking forward to seeing my teammates and the fans, and getting back out there.”

Asked why he wanted to sign for Liverpool, Isak said: “I think it’s a mixture of what the club is building, but what they’re building on top of what the club already is. The history of the club. Me getting the chance to be a part of this, I want to create history.

“I want to win trophies. That’s ultimately the biggest motivation for me and I feel like this is the perfect place for me to grow even further and to take my game to the next level and help the team as well.

“I feel like this is the next step for me in my career. I’m super-happy that I’ve been given this chance and I’m very motivated to do something well with it.”

Things were so far along that Palace had already produced a farewell video for Guehi, though it was later leaked online.

However, the transfer was abruptly cancelled. Palace manager Oliver Glasner reportedly played a decisive role, threatening to walk away from his position before his contract ends in the summer if Guehi was sold without a proper replacement.

Although Palace secured Jaydee Canvot from Toulouse, they lost out on Igor, who joined West Ham on loan from Brighton. With time running out, the club couldn’t bring in another centre-back.

Despite the chaos, Guehi remained professional, even scoring in Palace’s 3-0 victory over Aston Villa on Sunday.

Yet, according to The Guardian’s Ed Aarons, the England international is said to be “extremely unhappy” and “bitterly disappointed” after missing out on what he viewed as a career-defining move especially after handling negotiations respectfully.

While there’s no indication he’ll refuse to play, sources suggest Guehi is considering stepping down as captain, a decision that has reportedly unsettled some teammates.

The Times reports that Guehi has no plans to renew his contract at Selhurst Park, which expires next summer. He’ll be free to negotiate a pre-contract with foreign clubs starting in January.

Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Juventus are all monitoring the situation, and Liverpool may revisit the deal in the winter window.

An extremely positive health update on Manchester United midfield prospect Sekou Kone has emerged after he suffered a serious head injury.

Kone sustained a significant injury on Wednesday night as United’s Under-21s were in action against Tamworth in the National League Cup.

While contesting a corner, Kone was involved in a heavy collision with an opponent and emerged worse off.

The Malian wondekid immediately hit the floor, prompting the referee to pause the game and invite the medical staff to attend to him. Kone initially attempted to get back on his feet but it was apparently clear he could not carry on and eventually stayed down.

The game was halted for an extended period before ultimately being called off, with Kone taken off the pitch on a stretcher.

Soon after, United released a statement, confirming that Kone was “conscious, stable and communicating.” The teenager was taken to the hospital for closer examination.

Now, a fresh update on his health has been provided.
