Altay Bayindir: United set for ruthless transfer step – Man United News And Transfer News

    [ad_1]

Manchester United’s woes in goal have been an ongoing issue for several seasons now.

Former manager Erik ten Hag was left fed up with club legend David de Gea, and he eventually left as a free agent. The Dutchman opted to bring in Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir as backup.

The Cameroonian has been nothing short of a disaster, with mistakes galore in all competitions. His Carabao Cup horror show proved to be the final straw, and he was subsequently loaned out to Trabzonspor.

The Turkish side are keen to keep him at the club, while the ex-Ajax ace has still not given up hope of making it at Old Trafford. The Red Devils have no such plans, and he is likely to be offloaded once his loan ends next summer.

His backup, Altay Bayindir, has fared little better since his arrival from Fenerbahce. Ruben Amorim opted to start him in the opening six Premier League games, to disastrous results.

    Bayindir disasterclass

He was at fault for the only goal conceded against Arsenal on opening day, with the 20-time English league champions losing despite dominating the Gunners.

Mistakes against Fulham, and Brentford proved costly, and eventually, the head coach finally opted to hand a debut to Senne Lammens against Sunderland.

The Belgian proved to be a revelation, and is now set for a run of games, and the Portuguese tactician will be looking to get rid of the Turkiye international either in January or next summer, while bringing in an experienced face as backup.

“Andre Onana will never play for Manchester United again, sources have told TEAMtalk, with the future of another goalkeeper at Old Trafford under threat.

“Andre Onana is finished at Man Utd. We should have no doubts that he has played his last game for the club, and there is real hope that his loan move genuinely does turn into a permanent one.

“There is a sense of relief that he has started in a positive manner and that there is a sense of optimism that they can completely move on from him now.

    Time to go

“The entire situation around goalkeepers is looking much better in the past couple of weeks, with Lammens immediately bringing comfort to the United fans – and probably also his defence too.

“Onana will be replaced by another goalkeeper – and Bayindir may have to move on as well. The plan is for Lammens to become the number one, but there is very much a focus on making sure he will continue to earn that position if he stays there, rather than just being able to take the shirt for granted.”

It has been clear for sometime now that Altay Bayindir is not up to the task of being the club’s No.1 and is also far from a reliable backup.

Moving him on and bringing in someone like Emiliano Martinez or Mike Maignan would truly transform the goalkeeping department at the club.

  • Paul Parker runs the rule over Senne Lammens, Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir – Man United News And Transfer News

Paul Parker runs the rule over Senne Lammens, Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir – Man United News And Transfer News

    [ad_1]

Legendary Manchester United defender Paul Parker is happy the club has brought in a new goalkeeper, Senne Lammens, even though he would have preferred a more experienced option.

Speaking exclusively to The Peoples Person courtesy of WhichBookie, Parker explained why sending Andre Onana on loan to Trabzonspor is the right decision by INEOS.

    Back to basics

“Getting him out of the club’s a good thing,” he said. “You couldn’t have him around with the new young goalkeeper coming in, because you just don’t know how he was going to be with him.

“I’d rather see out with the old and in with the new, even if it’s only a loan. You want the young lad to come in. He’s 22 years of age. 22 years of age goalkeeper now is not the same as a 22-year-old goalkeeper from 10, 20 years ago. Different mentality.

“I’m hoping this lad is quite strong mentally. Goalkeepers generally grow up very, very quick. But you have to be stupid as well. You have to be stupid to dive at people’s feet!

“I don’t want a good-looking goalkeeper. You want someone who looks like a goalkeeper, with good hands, and presents himself as a goalkeeper. He doesn’t go around talking about keeping passes to the minimum, playing on the edge, passing through the back. No! Save the ball! Catch it!

“When a corner’s coming, don’t allow different coloured shirts to affect your judgment on where the ball’s going to and where it’s coming from. See the ball at all times. That’s what you want. And when you save it, don’t push it back to where it comes from. Try and catch it.

“When you go to punch, try and punch in a manner that you’re not going to take out players and allow VAR to give penalties.”

    Mentality is everything

The former England man said that signing Lammens carries a lot of risk.

“So, I would say this new goalkeeper, he’s number two in Belgium, but …we’ve signed a number one from Turkey, that didn’t work out, did it, really?”

Parker added that he would have rather United had signed Emiliano Martinez or Gianluigi Donnarumma, “because of their coolness, because they both had presence.”

On the other hand, he conceded that “they’ve got somebody who’s hungry, they’ve looked at longevity and gone down that road, which is absolutely perfect. You get a really good young goalkeeper who will have his moments if he’s young, but still you can bounce off the back of them. Somebody who wants to improve.”

    Panic at the Cottage

Parker mentioned the emotion generated in United’s first two Premier League matches against Arsenal and Fulham and Altay Bayindir’s performance under pressure.

“You need a presence in there who’s got stature. If he is being blocked off, he’s big enough to say a knee in the back ain’t going to hurt too much.

“Just the presence will make a difference rather than what we saw when Arsenal played.

“Fulham put a corner in the box every time and it was frightening. I was commentating on the game. I think people thought I was on a helter skelter. Just the noises that might have been going through the mic every time Fulham and Arsenal got corners!

“There was a panic on there, there was a panic. It was everything, everything was scary. “

Although the 61-year-old said that Martinez or Donnarumma would have brought immediate presence, he noted that either would have been a relatively short-term fix and said he hoped the club were making a similar shrewd investment on a young keeper as they had in the past.

“It was that £600,000 I think Pete[r Schmeichel] was. And look what happened to him. So you really don’t know.

“And Pete, as you know, Pete still is, but was, ambitious. All you hope is that Lammens has got that little bit in him to want to be a Schmeichel, to want to be a Van der Sar as well…he’s got that body shape hasn’t he? That greyhound look.”

“Whereas you look at Onana, he’s a whole box of muscles. No great agility in that way, no movement, just a bundle of muscles. Today’s goalkeepers are lean. Let’s hope he’s mean.”

  • Andre Onana or Altay Bayindir: Man United have decided who they want to offload – Man United News And Transfer News

Andre Onana or Altay Bayindir: Man United have decided who they want to offload – Man United News And Transfer News

    [ad_1]

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has quite the conundrum to solve when it comes to his goalkeepers.

Andre Onana committed several high-profile errors last season, and that trend has continued this season, with the Cameroonian responsible for the club’s humiliating EFL Cup exit at the hands of League Two side Grimsby Town.

His backup, Altay Bayindir, has also not set the stage alight. The Portuguese tactician turned to the Turk in the Premier League, but he has made mistakes in all three games so far.

Which is why the ex-Sporting CP boss pushed for a new goalkeeper with INEOS landing Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp.

Both goalies have not covered themselves in glory

Emiliano Martinez was left heartbroken as his move collapsed on deadline day due to Jadon Sancho’s unwillingness to move to Aston Villa permanently.

Now with the Belgian onboard, the 20-time English league champions have four senior goalkeepers, and something has to give.

Tom Heaton, who signed a new deal in the summer, is unlikely to leave, having been made a member of the leadership group within the squad, with many players feeling he is good enough to replace either Onana or Bayindir.

There have been reports stating INEOS are looking to offload both goalies, with the Cameroon international attracting interest from both Turkiye and Saudi Arabia, with the ex-Fenerbahce ace could head back to his homeland.

But Teamtalk have now revealed that United would prefer to offload Andre Onana instead, and it makes a lot of sense. He is the higher earner, and is on the hunt for a new contract, something he is unlikely to receive at Old Trafford.

    Onana to be cut loose

“United are listening to offers for BOTH Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir.

“However, they are only expected to green-light the exit of one of them, given new signing Senne Lammens, from Royal Antwerp, will take over from the other, either as the starter or the second choice.

“TEAMtalk is aware that Onana is indeed going to be cut loose if United can find a club to take him. Sources have stated they are more than willing to part ways with the former Inter Milan goalkeeper.”

He will also depart for the Africa Cup of Nations, and Amorim would prefer to not lose too many stars at that crucial juncture of the season.

  • Altay Bayindir not considered good enough, Man United have identified perfect alternative – Man United News And Transfer News

Altay Bayindir not considered good enough, Man United have identified perfect alternative – Man United News And Transfer News

    [ad_1]

Manchester United have a big call to take regarding the goalkeeping position, given the struggles of both Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir last season.

The Cameroon was culpable for major mistakes in both the Premier League and Europa League, which prompted Ruben Amorim to hand backup keeper Bayindir added minutes.

The Turkiye international made his European debut as well as Premier League debut, but apart from a Man Of the Match performance in the FA Cup, the ex-Fenerbahce ace was a major disappointment.

He conceded avoidable goals against both Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle, and as per Givemesport, the head coach is far from pleased with what he saw from the 27-year-old.

    Altay Bayindir struggled last term

And the former Sporting CP boss has made it very clear to the co-owners that he wants increased competition for the No.1 spot in the new season.

The Peoples Person has already relayed that Onana might be staying on as the starting goalie due to a mixture of his asking price and wage demands, and while Amorim cannot help with that, he is desperate for more quality between the sticks.

Royal Antwerp’s Senne Lammens is one of the club’s targets, and the Red Devils have continued to make checks on the 23-year-old. In fact, the report even mentioned that INEOS have assured Amorim that they will take action.

“Amorim is determined for Manchester United to sign a new custodian who will put genuine pressure on Onana and ensure he does not become too comfortable, GMS sources have learned, having seen Altay Bayindir fail to prove that he can truly challenge him for regular game time.

    Senne Lammens, the alternative

“GMS sources have been told that Manchester United have made further checks on Royal Antwerp’s Senne Lammens, with key decision-makers weighing up whether he is capable of challenging for minutes in the starting line-up if he arrives from Belgium’s Jupiler Pro League in the remainder of the transfer window.

“Manchester United have made assurances that they will land a new shot-stopper as Bayindir has been unable to win over his doubters, GMS sources understand, but they are not planning to rush into reaching an agreement for any targets ahead of their opening pre-season friendly against Leeds United on July 19.”

The Belgian ace, described as “world-class“, has garnered interest from multiple big clubs, and has hinted in the past that he would not turn down a move to Old Trafford. Whether INEOS can afford his asking price will depend on player sales.

As for Altay Bayindir, INEOS have been trying to send him back to his homeland, but so far, all the Turkish big sides have stayed away from submitting a concrete offer.
