Manchester United are set to rival Serie A newcomers Como for the signing of Aymeric Laporte, with the experienced defender expected to leave Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr this summer.

Laporte, who only joined Al Nassr from Manchester City in 2023, has been told he is free to move on and is now weighing up a return to European football. United’s interest comes after their narrow 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at Old Trafford last weekend, where Ruben Amorim’s men showed promise but also underlined the need for defensive reinforcements.
