Yet, if given the chance to share the pitch with any football icon from history, Bellingham’s choice would be clear: former Real Madrid and France star Zinedine Zidane.

After being asked the question in an interview with FIFA, the England midfielder said: “Zidane, easily. I’d just give him the ball and watch him.”

He added: It’d be like watching YouTube up close. Mind you, I wouldn’t want to play a whole season with him because I wouldn’t get any minutes.”

Bellingham opened up on an admiration for Zidane that stems from his childhood, when his dad, Mark, used to wear the colours of Los Blancos.

“My dad always wore a Madrid [shirt] around the house, with ‘Zidane 5’ on the back, which is funny because it’s kind of gone full circle and he gifted it to me when I joined in the summer.,” he told UEFA in 2024.

“I was like. ‘Who’s this guy that you’re always wearing on your shirt?’ And he was like, ‘Well, when you’re old enough, we’ll get you onto YouTube.’ Now that I wear the No5, it’s ended up being quite a significant story.”

In 2021, Bellingham included Zidane in his ideal five-a-side lineup.

During an interview at the Sports Personality of the Year awards, he selected the legendary French midfielder alongside his former Borussia Dortmund teammates Erling Haaland, Marco Reus, and Jadon Sancho.

More recently, Zidane expressed admiration for Bellingham, using his locker before a Real Madrid legends’ match against Porto and praising the young midfielder’s talent.

“From five to five, we are not the same age but the same number,” he said before kick-off. “He is spectacular, we are lucky to have him at Real Madrid, he is very good and I hope he brings us many trophies.”

Both Manchester United and Tottenham have scouted the teenage prodigy extensively. Spurs, under their revamped youth-focused recruitment model, view Bellingham as an ideal addition to bolster their midfield. Meanwhile, United are on a mission to inject youth into their squad, with manager Ruben Amorim reportedly keen on his versatility and potential.

But it’s Dortmund who lead the race—thanks in part to their strong relationship with the Bellingham family. Having developed Jude Bellingham into a world-class talent, they’ve positioned themselves as the perfect springboard for his younger brother’s next step.

Sebastian Kehl is expected to push the deal forward soon, with a fee in the region of €40 million being discussed. It might sound steep now—but in a few years, it could look like a bargain.

According to MARCA, Rodrygo informed the club’s staff that he ‘didn’t feel strong enough or ready to play,’ even though he had completed four training sessions earlier in the week.

Pressed on the matter in his post-match press conference after their 4-3 defeat to Barcelona, Ancelotti said: “He had recovered, but he wasn’t feeling well. He wasn’t at his best. I have no problem with him. He’s had a fever, and putting him on for five minutes when he’s not well has a risk: that he could get injured.”

The outlet claims Rodrygo feels ‘displaced’ after the ‘media explosion’ surrounding the arrivals of Bellingham and Mbappe, which has created a ‘rift’ with Vinicius Jr.

It adds by claiming ‘Rodrygo is currently confined to his home, clearly angry at having lost the leading role he hoped to have alongside Vinicius Jr.’ with suggestions that he no longer wants to play for the Spanish team.

But, the 24-year-old, who played no part in his side’s game against Barca last week, has refuted reports that he no longer wants to play for Real.

He thanked all the messages of support before criticising the rumours.

In a social media post, Rodrygo wrote: “Thank you for all your messages and concerns. I’ll be back soon. Stop making things up.”

Rodrygo recently used social media to respond to speculation regarding his future at Real Madrid.

The Brazilian forward has netted 14 goals in 51 appearances across all competitions this season, playing an important role in the squad.

Despite his contributions, he is not regarded as crucial to Real’s attacking setup in the same way as Kylian Mbappé or Vinícius Júnior.

With the summer transfer window approaching, rumors surrounding his potential departure have intensified.

Arsenal, Manchester City, and Liverpool are reportedly monitoring his situation, showing interest in securing his signature. Rodrygo has been with Real Madrid since June 2019, following his transfer from Santos.
