  • Liam Delap to score goals at new club Chelsea

    [ad_1]

CHELSEA’s £30 million summer capture of Liam Delap from Ipswich is shaping up to be a smart, well‑thought‑out move—one that aims to rejuvenate their attacking arsenal and give manager Enzo Maresca a fresh focal point up front.

Let’s explore why this is a good fit for “the Blues” and what it could mean for goals.

Delap scored 12 Premier League goals in 37 appearances for Ipswich, standing out even in a relegation-bound side He also exceeded his expected goals (xG), scoring 10 goals from 8 xG—revealing a sharp finishing instinct. . That kind of clinical edge is exactly what Chelsea have been missing.

‘At 22, Delap brings a modern No. 9’s all-round profile: physical presence, aerial strength, pressing intensity, and intelligent off-ball movement. Maresca, who coached him at Man City, expects him to thrive off the front—both creating space for teammates and applying the high press he favours

‘Delap joined CHELSEA specifically to work under Maresca, with whom he shared a successful time at City’s academy. Add to that his on-field chemistry with Cole Palmer (also a City graduate), and you have a ready-made attacking partnership

‘Delap is still young, and consistency remains to be tested. Some question whether he’s just in a purple patch or ready to maintain this level long‑term. But that’s the point: at 22, he has a huge ceiling, and Chelsea have time and resources to nurture him.

‘It’s reasonable to expect Delap to match, if not exceed, his Ipswich tally—given the service he’ll receive from Palmer, Noni Madueke, and Enzo Fernandez. His clinical finishing—outperforming xG—and shot release speed, coupled with improved teammates around him, suggest a strong likelihood of 15+ Premier League goals in a full season. If he stays fit and adapts well, a 20-goal campaign isn’t out of the question.

‘Delap brings goal threat, physicality, pressing, and youthful potential. It may take some time for him to truly establish himself—but early signs are promising. If the synergy with Maresca’s tactics and fellow attackers clicks, Chelsea might well have found their new talisman in the No. 9 shirt.

  • Liam Delap wants win trophies at Chelsea

    [ad_1]

Liam Delap has opened up and revealed just why he has decided to make the move to CHELSEA this summer transfer window.

The striker moved to Stamford Bridge from Ipswich on Wednesday after the Blues activated the £30million release clause in his contract.

Delap was attracting interest from a host of clubs, including Newcastle and Manchester United, after scoring 12 Premier League goals this season, But the 22-year-old chose Chelsea because he believes they can realise his ambition of winning silverware.

‘It’s a lifetime of graft,’ he says. ‘Since I was eight or nine years old, I was focused on football. I never wanted to do anything else, and I’ve given everything I could to make it happen.

‘It’s such a long and hard period and things can be tough for you, but I’ve always enjoyed it. I just love football; I’d be playing with my mates if I wasn’t a professional.

‘Fortunately, I’m alright at it – and I’m delighted that graft has worked out and I’m here now at CHELSEA.’

‘Some of my earliest football memories are watching him playing – and launching throw-ins – for Stoke at the Britannia!’ says Liam. ‘We tried to get to as many games as possible, and I had a great upbringing in that I was so close to it all.

‘It gave me that feeling of football early; it was incredible and something I wanted. But I knew it wouldn’t be easy, I had to work hard for it.

‘I owe both mum and dad so much. I’ve got a younger brother and sister, and while dad was playing, my mum was so important to balance us and make sure we got to where we are today.

‘I can’t repay them enough, but I’m sure they are very proud and that is what makes me happy.’

‘Growing up watching this club, I understand the stature of it and how incredible it has been over the years,’ he says.

‘I wanted to come here to win trophies. When I spoke to the club, everyone wanted to get back to the very top, and they have the quality and the players to do that. The hunger and desire to keep adding trophies, to take the club back to where it belongs, that is the main objective.’

  • Chelsea fans issued Liam Delap warning

    [ad_1]

Ex-Blues star Frank Lebeouf is hoping that CHELSEA fans are patient with new summer signing Liam Delap, after the big striker completed his move to Stamford Bridge this week.

Delap was attracting interest from a host of clubs, including Newcastle and Manchester United, after scoring 12 Premier League goals this season, But the 22-year-old chose Chelsea because he believes they can realise his ambition of winning silverware.

On Chelsea’s deal for Delap, Leboeuf said: ‘Expectations are going to be big and the pressure is going to be huge. You won’t know before you experienced it.

‘Any player wants to play for the biggest clubs and you want to try. Hopefully it’s going to work.

‘When I came to Chelsea, I was completely unknown so that was nice, but guys like Gianluca Vialli and Gianfranco Zola came with pressure, even if it wasn’t the Chelsea that we know now.’

He added: ‘Delap is going to have pressure.

‘The fans are fed up with bad strikers and they want someone productive.

‘Let’s give him a chance and see how it works. But unless you’ve tried you will not know if you deserve to be a CHELSEA striker.’

After completing his move to Chelsea, Delap opened up and revealed that he wants to win trophies with the Blues – he told the club website: ‘Growing up watching this club, I understand the stature of it and how incredible it has been over the years,’ he says.

‘I wanted to come here to win trophies. When I spoke to the club, everyone wanted to get back to the very top, and they have the quality and the players to do that. The hunger and desire to keep adding trophies, to take the club back to where it belongs, that is the main objective.’

  • Mike Maignan perfect signing for Chelsea

    [ad_1]

Frank Lebeouf has opened up and claimed that Mike Maignan would be welcome at CHELSEA, but the club do not need to prioritise adding a new goalkeeper to the side.

Winning a trophy and getting Champions League football last season is more than what many people had planned for Chelsea and Enzo Maresca, but the Italian boss really has done a great job at the club.

But there have been many reports in the media that we are looking to improve a number of areas in the squad and adding a new stopper to the side is something that will reportedly help us really win that Premier League title.

Robert Sanchez has been a massive part of that side this season – but he is not seen as a man that is good enough to play for one of the big Premier League clubs and has really struggled to impress.

That has led to alot of speculation in the media that we will once again delve into that transfer kitty and add a new goalkeeper to the side, and Maignon is a man that has been linked with a move to London for a while.

And amid the speculation, Leboeuf has said that he is an admirer of ‘exceptional’ Maignan but believes his former club should prioritise a move for an experienced centre-back over a new shot-stopper.

‘I love Mike and think the guy is so exceptional and would fit perfectly at Chelsea,’ he added.

‘But if CHELSEA are going to make an exception in their transfers they should get a new Thiago Silva, that would be better than an experienced goalkeeper.

‘That would be my decision. But if they decide to go for Mike, that’s a good decision as he is the real deal. He would be very useful to Chelsea.’

    IcFootballnews says…

Look, Chelsea do need to add a new goalkeeper to that squad and Maignan could be a great signing, it is that simple.

  • Chelsea transfer news – Branthwaite – Rodrygo

    [ad_1]

Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news, gossip and transfer latest from icfootballnews that we think you may have missed featuring the likes of Rodrygo, Jarrod Branthwaite and Victor Osimhen…

Fresh reports in the media this week which is claimed CHELSEA are very interested in Everton defender Jared Branthwaite, as they seek to improve that defence over the course of the transfer window.

Now Chelsea finished the season very well they got champions League football, and they won a European trophy, which doesn’t come around very often. So Enzo Maresca is looking the splash some money improve the squad.

He has already acquired the services of Liam Delap, but  fans are just waiting for the final confirmation to go through. But it seems that they are now looking at adding the talented Branthwaite to the side.

The young defender has the potential to become world-class in the coming seasons if he makes the right moves in the next couple of seasons, and reports on the sun have claimed that Chelsea are ready to open talks with Everton over a potential deal.

The reports claimed that Chelsea are ready to pay £70 million in order to get a deal done for defender and the young star is reportedly very interested in making a move to Stamford bridge.

Enzo Maresca wants to carry on improving the squad and certain areas and he knows that he needs to improve that backline, which caused them serious issues last season, and is an area of the side that he needs to improve in order to close the gap on Liverpool, Man city and Arsenal, who will be the favorites for the title again next season.

    icfootballnews says…

Branthwaite is a very very good young defender and has all the potential to develop into a top class defender. £70 million is a lot of money for the lad, but he could be worth it in the long-run.

He is just the type of player that CHELSEA like to sign, young and hungry, that they can give a massive contract too. He is ready for that next step up and if he is able to hold down a regular spot in that Blues back-line, he will certainly improve their defence.

It will be an interesting watch to see if the Blues do get a deal done for the lad that is for sure.

    CHELSEA WANTS OSIMHEN

There has been some reports in the media which have claimed that CHELSEA want to sign a Victor OsImhen from Napoli, despite agreeing to bring Liam Delap in from Ipswich in a deal worth £30 million.

Now Chelsea will linked with Osman a couple of years ago but it’s high wages and massive transfer fee that naturally wanted meant that he actually went to Galatasaray, where he has performed very impressively for the Turkish giants.

Chelsea have already signed Liam delap from Ipswich for £30 million but that has not stoPped reports that Enzo Maresca would like a new striker to come in and replace Nicholas Jackson, who have been decent struggled for game time for goals sorry on a weekly basis and his performances been very inconsistent for a club like Chelsea, who want to win the champions League and premier League etc.

Osimhen will know that it is very early in the transfer window, but Napoli will be ready to cash in for about 60 million and the sun says Chelsea are very interested in getting a deal done if they feel like they need him.

    icfootballnews says…

Osimhen is a world class striker there was no data about that. He is man at scores goals but at the day, he is getting on an age and he’s all about the money.

And with Nicholas Jackson and Liam Delap and a bunch of other young talent at CHELSEA, they don’t really need to go and get a new striker signed up after the arrival of the Delap, who will probably struggle himself to get the game time that he needs because Maresca likes to play a certain way and Liam Delap does not fit that style of play.

Osimhen will probably end up going to Saudi Arabia,  they obviously want him he’ll be interested in the high wages that they will probably offer him and to be fair you know what a crazy money he could get over there.

He’s done enough Europe to be happy so a move to Saudi Arabia is probably going to happen simply because Chelsea will not want to pay you massive wages for the age that he is right now.

CHELSEA FREE TO MAKE RODRYGO MOVE?

It has been claimed in the media once again that Real Madrid will be open to letting long-term CHELSEA and Arsenal transfer target Rodrygo leave this summer, if they receive the right offer.

Rodrygo has scored 13 goals and provided 10 assists in 50 appearances this season, but Tension has been building between the Brazilian and Real with the winger unhappy with his role in the team with his relationship with his teammates deteriorating significantly.

The former Santos starlet, who joined Real for €45million in 2018, is ‘angry’ with his diminished role and it has been claimed that he would be open to leaving the Spaniards over the next few months, with reports suggesting that he believes he has played his last game for Real.

Now, according to AS Madrid could be willing to part ways with the Brazilian forward if a substantial offer arrives. The ultimate decision, however, will rest with both Rodrygo and new head coach Xabi Alonso, who is reportedly scheduled to speak directly with the player soon.

However, It was claimed Real will be demanding a fee of €100million (£85m) for the player, and he will also look for wages around the £300k-a-week mark.

    icfootballnews says…

Rodrygo has been world class for a few seasons, he is playing at Real and scoring the goals that big time players should be scoring, but his time at the club is probably coming to the end as the Spaniards look to keep on improving the side.

However – Arsenal and CHELSEA do not really need to splash the cash and add another winger to that attack, they already have a number of players that can do the job that Rodrygo does and we are sure that a move to the London clubs will not happen.

If he does leave Madrid, it could be for a move to Saudi Arabia or PSG, that would suit his style of football.

  • Chelsea news: Delap – Gila

    [ad_1]

And the reports suggest he may well have played his final game for Marco Baroni’s side, and admitted midway through the campaign that he’s ready to listen to other offers despite becoming a “special” figure in Rome.

“I am very happy. Since last year, I started playing midway through the season, and everything is going very well. For a player, being a special figure is very important,” said Gila.

“At this moment, I am happy to be here. After that, whatever happens, I am ready to listen to everything. I have ambitions, and if there are options, I will listen to them and evaluate them. But I am very happy here; the team values me.”

    IcFootballnews Says…

Chelsea needs to improve that back-line this summer, that was a real issue for the club last season and is probably why they failed to challenge more for the Premier League title.

Gila is a solid player that CHELSEA have scouted, nobody knows if he will be good enough for the Premier League, but he could be a solid signing that is for sure.

    RODRYGO GREEN LIGHT GIVEN

It has been claimed in the media once again that Real Madrid will be open to letting long-term CHELSEA and Arsenal transfer target Rodrygo leave this summer, if they receive the right offer.

JOE COLE CONVINCED CHELSEA SIGNING LIAM DELAP

Former CHELSEA star Joe Cole is convinced the club will win the race to sign Ipswich star Liam Delap this summer, a player that will now only cost £30 million to acquire this summer.

Delap has had a decent season for Ipswich in the Premier League this season despite the clubs relegation, and his performances have been linked with a switch to Liverpool and Chelsea.

Former Chelsea midfielder Steve Sidwell waxed lyrical about Delap’s potential, even likening the Ipswich centre-forward’s game to that of a young Alan Shearer: ‘He fits the bill. He’s young and hungry, he’s someone that the coach here can develop,’ Sidwell responded.

‘He kind of reminds me of a young Alan Shearer when he was at Southampton then went to Blackburn.

‘He’s robust, he’s an out-and-out number nine, he knows where the goal is, he can score a goal.

    ‘I think that’s a good shout.’

And Cole, a three-time Premier League winner with Chelsea, chimed in: ‘I’d actually be stunned if he isn’t at Chelsea.’

    icfootballnews says…

Delap could be a shrewd acquisition for Chelsea, particularly as they look to solve their long-term issues in the center-forward role.

At Ipswich Town, Delap has showcased his predatory instincts in front of goal. His movement in the box, combined with his ability to find space and finish clinically, makes him a standout among young strikers. Delap’s record at youth levels and his continued improvement in professional football demonstrate that he is not only a promising talent but also a consistent goal threat.

The price that he could be arriving for, the talent that he has and the chances he will get as a Blues player, he could more than bang in 30 goals a season that is for sure.

He is surely a player that CHELSEA fans would like to see arrive?
