Liverpool Break British Transfer Record to Land Alexander Isak from Newcastle

    [ad_1]

Liverpool have finally completed the signing of Swedish striker Alexander Isak from Newcastle United in a deal worth a British-record £125 million, bringing an end to one of the summer’s most protracted transfer sagas.

The 24-year-old joins on a six-year contract and becomes the Reds’ marquee arrival of the window. For Newcastle, the final package is closer to £130 million, with Isak reportedly waiving solidarity payments to help push the transfer through.

    Isak Forces the Move

Isak made no secret of his desire to leave St James’ Park, going as far as refusing to play in order to secure the switch. Liverpool initially saw a £110 million bid rejected outright, but renewed talks in the final 24 hours led to a breakthrough agreement at the record fee.

Speaking after completing his move, Isak said:
“I feel amazing. It’s been a long journey to get here, but I’m proud to be part of this club and everything it stands for. I can’t wait to meet my teammates, the fans, and get to work on the pitch.”

    Liverpool’s Big Summer Statement

Isak’s arrival caps a huge window for Liverpool as they reinforce their title-winning squad. Florian Wirtz arrived from Bayer Leverkusen in another major deal, while Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong bolstered the full-back positions. Young defender Giovanni Leoni and forward Hugo Ekitike also joined, with goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili finally making his pre-agreed switch.

Despite high-profile departures, including Luis Diaz, Jarell Quansah, and Darwin Núñez, Liverpool look stronger than ever in attack. Isak, their new record signing, is expected to be the long-term focal point of the frontline as Arne Slot’s side aim to dominate both domestically and in Europe.

  • Maelys Mpome joins Brighton from Chelsea

    [ad_1]

Brighton have signed centre-back Maelys Mpome from CHELSEA in a permanent deal, the Blues have announced on the club website after the defender decided to make the move this summer

Chelsea posted: ‘ Mpome joined Chelsea in 2024, following a four-year stint at Montpellier in her native France.

‘The 22-year-old made her Blues debut when she was introduced as a late substitute during a Champions League group-stage match against Real Madrid in October 2024.

‘In February 2025, the defender made her first Women’s Super League appearance against Everton, before going on to appear on four more occasions during the remainder of the campaign as we went on to win a domestic Treble in 2024/25.

‘On the international stage, Mpome has represented France at Under-16, Under-17, Under-19 and Under-20 levels before going on to make 10 appearances for the Under-23 side.

‘The centre-back now makes a permanent move to the English south coast, where she will play in the WSL next season.

‘Everyone at CHELSEA would like to wish Maelys the very best for the future as she begins a new chapter in her career.’

Brighton posted: ‘We’re delighted to confirm the permanent signing of central defender Maelys Mpome from Chelsea, subject to the usual regulatory processes.’

  • Tottenham step up interest in signing Savinho from Man City

Tottenham step up interest in signing Savinho from Man City

    [ad_1]

Tottenham Hotspur are pushing ahead in their bid to sign Savinho, with talks advancing over a potential summer move from Manchester City, according to Football Insider.

The 21-year-old Brazilian winger has quickly become one of Europe’s brightest young talents, and Spurs are eager to make him their marquee attacking signing following Son Heung-min’s departure to LAFC.

    Spurs Step Up Pursuit

The Europa League winners have already lodged a €50 million bid for Savinho, but Manchester City are holding firm with a valuation of around €70 million, as reported by Fichajes. Tottenham’s interest comes amid uncertainty over Richarlison’s long-term future, with the club seeking a dynamic wide attacker capable of delivering both creativity and end product.

    Savinho’s Rise at Manchester City

Since arriving from Troyes last summer, Savinho has made a big impression in Pep Guardiola’s squad. While he only netted three goals in 48 appearances, his creative spark shone through with 13 assists across all competitions. His rapid development has also seen him earn 13 caps for Brazil, further underlining his growing reputation on the world stage.

    Why Tottenham Want Savinho

Savinho’s pace, flair, and ability to break defensive lines make him an ideal fit for Ange Postecoglou’s high-tempo system. With Son gone and Richarlison inconsistent, Spurs are determined to bring in a long-term attacking solution — and the young Brazilian fits the profile perfectly.

    The Road Ahead

Manchester City are reluctant to lose the winger but could cash in if Tottenham meet their asking price. With talks ongoing and the transfer window heating up, Spurs fans could be in for a blockbuster signing if negotiations reach a breakthrough.

  • Kiernan Drewsbury-Hall on why he joined Everton from Chelsea

    [ad_1]

Kiernan Drewsbury-Hall has opened up and revealed that David Moyes was one of the main reasons why he made the move to Everton this summer window, after deciding to leave CHELSEA.

The 26-year-old followed Enzo Maresca from Leicester to Chelsea last summer but was almost immediately linked with a transfer after struggling for game time at the Bridge, and now his move away from Chelsea have been confirmed by the Blues.

“For me to leave my old club, it would have had to have been for something special, a project that I really believed in. After speaking to the manager and seeing the ambitions with the new stadium and everything, it felt like the right club, it felt like the right fit for me for the next step.

“[Moyes] said he’s been admiring me for a while; he loves the way I play and just explained to me what he sees me doing in my role in this team. That’s what you want to hear as a player.

“I have enormous respect for him, he’s a legend of the game, so it’ll be a pleasure to work under him.”

On his latest signing, Moyes said: “We are pleased that Kiernan has chosen to join Everton. He had other clubs interested in signing him but he was excited by the opportunity and the challenge at Everton.

“Kiernan’s quality and experience of the Premier League gives us the hope that he can adapt quickly.

“We look forward to working with him and I’m sure all Evertonians will give him the support he needs.”

Sporting Director Kristjaan Speakman said: “In a loan acquisition, we not only have to convince the player but also the parent Club, and we thank Chelsea for placing their trust in us. Most importantly, Marc wanted to come to Sunderland and be a part of our Club.

‘The competition for his signature was significant, and he had many high-quality options this summer, so we are delighted he’s joined Sunderland. Marc’s a progressive striker who has key attributes that align with the role in our team. In addition to providing a threat in the final third, we believe there are many other ways he can impact games, and we look forward to helping him do that throughout the 2025-26 season.”

  • Tottenham Handed Surprise Chance to Sign Rafael Leao from AC Milan

Tottenham Handed Surprise Chance to Sign Rafael Leao from AC Milan

    [ad_1]

Tottenham Hotspur have been presented with an unexpected opportunity to sign AC Milan star Rafael Leao, according to transfer insider Graeme Bailey via TBR Football.

The Portuguese international has become one of Serie A’s standout forwards since joining Milan from Lille in 2019. Leao played a pivotal role in the Rossoneri’s Scudetto triumph and Supercoppa Italiana win, establishing himself as a key attacking asset.

A New Chapter Under Allegri at Milan

After a reportedly strained relationship with former manager Sergio Conceicao left Leao sidelined last season, the appointment of Massimiliano Allegri has changed the narrative. In pre-season, Leao has hit the ground running with three goals and an assist in just three games—once again showing why he’s one of Europe’s most exciting attackers.

Despite Milan’s fresh optimism under Allegri, intermediaries have now offered Spurs a route to sign the 26-year-old forward. However, with Leao rediscovering his importance at the San Siro, Milan are reluctant to lose their star man unless a massive offer arrives.

    Leao’s Premier League-Ready Skillset

Leao is valued at around £61 million and has three years remaining on his current deal, meaning Milan hold all the cards. Still, the versatile forward—primarily a left-winger but recently used as a second striker—has all the tools to thrive in the Premier League.

Standing at 6ft 2in, he combines pace, power, and flair. He’s a nightmare for defenders in one-on-one situations and boasts impressive creative numbers, having contributed 12 goals and 11 assists across all competitions last season.

While he’s occasionally criticised for inconsistency and a lack of defensive work rate, there’s no denying Leao’s elite talent. If Spurs can pull this off, it would be a major statement ahead of their Champions League return and upcoming UEFA Super Cup clash with PSG.

    Final Verdict

Tottenham’s interest in Leao signals their intent to compete at the top level. Signing a player of his calibre could elevate the club’s attacking threat and give Ange Postecoglou a true match-winner on the European stage.

Gianluigi Donnarumma: Opening bid from Manchester United ready – Man United News And Transfer News

    [ad_1]

Manchester United’s goalkeeping problem is yet to be solved, but INEOS certainly have plans to remedy this before the summer transfer window closes.

Andre Onana is currently injured, and even if he returns, Ruben Amorim would love for a new shot-stopper given the number of times his No.1 let him down last season.

Backup keeper Altay Bayindir also struggled last term, and with his future likely to lie away from Old Trafford, United could do with help in the market.

Emiliano Martinez seemed to be the preferred choice but Aston Villa’s asking price meant a deal never materialised with United’s loan offer getting rebuffed.

PSG want to sell Gianluigi Donnarumma

Now, Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has emerged as a legitimate target, with the Champions League winners keen to move him on instead of losing him on a free next season.

There were rumours of the Italian staying put, but now, Stretty News have claimed that United are preparing their first official offer for the “generational” goalkeeper.

PSG reportedly valued Donnarumma at more than £30 million, but INEOS are preparing to submit an opening offer in the region of £26 million.

“Manchester United are ready to launch an onslaught for Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, whose future is engulfed in uncertainty.

    United preparing opening offer

“Sources close to Stretty News reveal that Man Utd are preparing to launch an offer worth £26 million for the Euro 2020 hero. This figure might be deemed sufficient, given that the player’s contract will expire in less than a year.

“These sources also confirm Donnarumma’s great desire to embark on a new career chapter in the Premier League.”

So far this window, the Red Devils have refrained from submitting an offer for a target if the player has not expressed his desire to move to Manchester, as seen from the Benjamin Sesko case.

If this report is true, the former AC Milan ace seems to be keen on a switch to Old Trafford even without Champions League football.

That explains why he has rejected mega-money moves to Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

The Parisian club have their eyes on Lucas Chevalier and Martinez as possible replacements.

  • Liverpool Making Progress in Talks to Sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle

Liverpool Making Progress in Talks to Sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle

    [ad_1]

Liverpool are reportedly making significant strides in their pursuit of Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, according to renowned journalist Florian Plettenberg.

After winning the Premier League title last season, the Reds are now focused on revamping their attacking options—particularly the centre-forward role. Despite their success, Liverpool often lacked a natural No.9, with Luis Díaz deployed out of position before his move to Bayern Munich.

Arne Slot is ready to shake things up. Darwin Núñez could be on his way out following an inconsistent campaign, and while Liverpool have already splashed £80 million on Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt, the club remains keen on bringing in another top-tier striker. That man, it seems, is Alexander Isak.

    Isak Pushes for Liverpool Move

Newcastle are reluctant to lose their star forward, but their stance has weakened after Isak reportedly submitted a transfer request. The Sweden international is said to be eager to join Liverpool and has already agreed personal terms in principle, with a contract that would run until 2031.

Plettenberg shared the update on X (formerly Twitter), stating:

“Talks between Newcastle and Liverpool over Alexander Isak are progressing well. The player’s camp are very positive about the situation. Isak is hopeful that an agreement between the clubs can be reached. A record bid will be needed.”

    Liverpool Eyeing Record-Breaking Deal

Negotiations between Liverpool and Newcastle are ongoing, with the Merseyside giants prepared to break their transfer record to secure Isak’s signature. Their initial interest predates the Ekitike deal, but Newcastle were adamant the player wasn’t for sale at the time. With the situation evolving quickly, the Magpies are now scouting replacements—RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško is reportedly top of their list.

Isak is widely considered one of the Premier League’s most complete forwards, alongside the likes of Erling Haaland. Known for his pace, finishing, and versatility—he can also operate from the left flank—Isak could be a game-changer in Slot’s tactical setup, potentially forming a lethal partnership with Ekitike.

If Liverpool can get this over the line, their frontline for 2025/26 could be the most fearsome in England.
