  • Liam Delap to score goals at new club Chelsea

    [ad_1]

CHELSEA’s £30 million summer capture of Liam Delap from Ipswich is shaping up to be a smart, well‑thought‑out move—one that aims to rejuvenate their attacking arsenal and give manager Enzo Maresca a fresh focal point up front.

Let’s explore why this is a good fit for “the Blues” and what it could mean for goals.

Delap scored 12 Premier League goals in 37 appearances for Ipswich, standing out even in a relegation-bound side He also exceeded his expected goals (xG), scoring 10 goals from 8 xG—revealing a sharp finishing instinct. . That kind of clinical edge is exactly what Chelsea have been missing.

‘At 22, Delap brings a modern No. 9’s all-round profile: physical presence, aerial strength, pressing intensity, and intelligent off-ball movement. Maresca, who coached him at Man City, expects him to thrive off the front—both creating space for teammates and applying the high press he favours

‘Delap joined CHELSEA specifically to work under Maresca, with whom he shared a successful time at City’s academy. Add to that his on-field chemistry with Cole Palmer (also a City graduate), and you have a ready-made attacking partnership

‘Delap is still young, and consistency remains to be tested. Some question whether he’s just in a purple patch or ready to maintain this level long‑term. But that’s the point: at 22, he has a huge ceiling, and Chelsea have time and resources to nurture him.

‘It’s reasonable to expect Delap to match, if not exceed, his Ipswich tally—given the service he’ll receive from Palmer, Noni Madueke, and Enzo Fernandez. His clinical finishing—outperforming xG—and shot release speed, coupled with improved teammates around him, suggest a strong likelihood of 15+ Premier League goals in a full season. If he stays fit and adapts well, a 20-goal campaign isn’t out of the question.

‘Delap brings goal threat, physicality, pressing, and youthful potential. It may take some time for him to truly establish himself—but early signs are promising. If the synergy with Maresca’s tactics and fellow attackers clicks, Chelsea might well have found their new talisman in the No. 9 shirt.

  • Liam Delap wants win trophies at Chelsea

    [ad_1]

Liam Delap has opened up and revealed just why he has decided to make the move to CHELSEA this summer transfer window.

The striker moved to Stamford Bridge from Ipswich on Wednesday after the Blues activated the £30million release clause in his contract.

Delap was attracting interest from a host of clubs, including Newcastle and Manchester United, after scoring 12 Premier League goals this season, But the 22-year-old chose Chelsea because he believes they can realise his ambition of winning silverware.

‘It’s a lifetime of graft,’ he says. ‘Since I was eight or nine years old, I was focused on football. I never wanted to do anything else, and I’ve given everything I could to make it happen.

‘It’s such a long and hard period and things can be tough for you, but I’ve always enjoyed it. I just love football; I’d be playing with my mates if I wasn’t a professional.

‘Fortunately, I’m alright at it – and I’m delighted that graft has worked out and I’m here now at CHELSEA.’

‘Some of my earliest football memories are watching him playing – and launching throw-ins – for Stoke at the Britannia!’ says Liam. ‘We tried to get to as many games as possible, and I had a great upbringing in that I was so close to it all.

‘It gave me that feeling of football early; it was incredible and something I wanted. But I knew it wouldn’t be easy, I had to work hard for it.

‘I owe both mum and dad so much. I’ve got a younger brother and sister, and while dad was playing, my mum was so important to balance us and make sure we got to where we are today.

‘I can’t repay them enough, but I’m sure they are very proud and that is what makes me happy.’

‘Growing up watching this club, I understand the stature of it and how incredible it has been over the years,’ he says.

‘I wanted to come here to win trophies. When I spoke to the club, everyone wanted to get back to the very top, and they have the quality and the players to do that. The hunger and desire to keep adding trophies, to take the club back to where it belongs, that is the main objective.’

  • Chelsea fans issued Liam Delap warning

    [ad_1]

Ex-Blues star Frank Lebeouf is hoping that CHELSEA fans are patient with new summer signing Liam Delap, after the big striker completed his move to Stamford Bridge this week.

Delap was attracting interest from a host of clubs, including Newcastle and Manchester United, after scoring 12 Premier League goals this season, But the 22-year-old chose Chelsea because he believes they can realise his ambition of winning silverware.

On Chelsea’s deal for Delap, Leboeuf said: ‘Expectations are going to be big and the pressure is going to be huge. You won’t know before you experienced it.

‘Any player wants to play for the biggest clubs and you want to try. Hopefully it’s going to work.

‘When I came to Chelsea, I was completely unknown so that was nice, but guys like Gianluca Vialli and Gianfranco Zola came with pressure, even if it wasn’t the Chelsea that we know now.’

He added: ‘Delap is going to have pressure.

‘The fans are fed up with bad strikers and they want someone productive.

‘Let’s give him a chance and see how it works. But unless you’ve tried you will not know if you deserve to be a CHELSEA striker.’

After completing his move to Chelsea, Delap opened up and revealed that he wants to win trophies with the Blues – he told the club website: ‘Growing up watching this club, I understand the stature of it and how incredible it has been over the years,’ he says.

‘I wanted to come here to win trophies. When I spoke to the club, everyone wanted to get back to the very top, and they have the quality and the players to do that. The hunger and desire to keep adding trophies, to take the club back to where it belongs, that is the main objective.’

  • Liam Delap rejects Man United’s move in favour of Chelsea – David Ornstein – Man United News And Transfer News

Liam Delap rejects Man United’s move in favour of Chelsea – David Ornstein – Man United News And Transfer News

    [ad_1]

Manchester United have been dealt a deadly blow in their pursuit of Liam Delap with the Ipswich Town striker prioritising a move to Chelsea, according to David Ornstein.

Delap, 22, has emerged as one of the hottest prospects in the Premier League after an impressive season for the Tractor Boys, despite their relegation.

The England U-21 striker has scored 12 goals and provided 2 assists for Keiran McKenna’s side – a strong return considering Ipswich only managed 36 in total this year.

Delap’s contract at Portman Road contains a £30 million release clause which has put a host of clubs on red-alert this summer.

United had landed on the 22-year-old striker as their “first-choice” option up front as Old Trafford officials searched for reinforcements to buttress Ruben Amorim’s front line. But the Red Devils were joined by Chelsea, Newcastle United, Everton, and Nottingham Forest in the race, with interest from Germany as well.

United held “face-to-face talks” with Delap’s representatives last week and had retained optimism over a deal despite a lack of European football next year after the Europa League final defeat.

The club had also reached an agreement with Ipswich Town over the structure of the payment needed to trigger the striker’s release clause.

However, Ornstein now confirms the Reds have been “informed” by Delap he has rejected their interest in favour of a move to Chelsea, confirming a report relayed by The Peoples Person yesterday of the striker’s preference towards Stamford Bridge.

Tweet: “Liam Delap suitors being informed he is not joining them, amid preference to sign for Chelsea. Sources at likes of #MUFC #NUFC #EFC #NFFC now aware. 22yo on course for #CFC subject to personal terms + release clause requirements being met @TheAthleticFC.”

The Athletic reporter contends “the 22-year-old will move to Chelsea” once an agreement is struck with Delap and his club over a move, with both expected to be formalities.

It constitutes a major blow at Old Trafford with the club’s limited budget, as well as the lack of European football, likely to prove major hurdles in pursuits of more-established strikers like Viktor Gyokeres or Victor Osimhen.

Delap offered a Premier League-proven option in a position of need at a young age and great price with obvious scope for improvement. But it’s this tantalising combination which had put him at the top of other club’s wish lists this summer, with Chelsea having done enough to secure the striker’s signature.

  • Report – Everton in touch with Liam Delap

Report – Everton in touch with Liam Delap

    [ad_1]

Everton have reportedly entered the race for Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap, holding discussions in an effort to sell their project to the 21-year-old. However, the Toffees face stiff competition from Premier League heavyweights Manchester United and Chelsea, who are currently leading the chase.

Premier League Clubs Circle for Delap’s Signature

According to The Guardian, Everton have spoken with Delap to outline their vision, though manager David Moyes admitted they may be “behind the black ball” compared to rival suitors. Delap, who scored 12 goals in the Premier League for relegated Ipswich Town, is expected to make a summer move to remain in the top flight.

The young forward has a £30 million release clause in his contract, attracting interest from a host of clubs. Manchester United are reportedly considering offloading one of their current strikers to fund a move for Delap, while Chelsea are keen to bolster their frontline and add competition for Nicolas Jackson.

    Can Everton Convince Delap?

Despite Moyes’ admission that Everton trail in the race, they have had the chance to pitch their offer directly to Delap. Moyes said:

“We’ve had a chance to speak to him. He’s spoken to three or four clubs and he’s given us the opportunity to pitch our case.”

    Reinforcements Needed at Goodison Park

With doubts over Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s future and Beto yet to fully convince, Everton are actively seeking to strengthen their No.9 options. Even if Calvert-Lewin signs a new deal, Delap could offer a fresh, dynamic presence up front—something the Toffees desperately need heading into the new season.

  • Liam Delap could be great Chelsea signing

    [ad_1]

CHELSEA have been linked with a potential move for Ipswich star Liam Delap, and according to reporter Iomie Stanley, the forward has the potential to be one of the best strikers in the Premier League.

Delap has had a decent season for Ipswich in the Premier League this season despite the clubs relegation, and his performances have been linked with a switch to Liverpool and Chelsea.

Now, amid all the speculation and rumours, The existence of a release clause that could cost Chelsea or Liverpool £30 million, Stanley says he could be a great signing for the big clubs as he has the potential to be a top Premier League star.

Stanley told icfootballnews: ‘Chelsea’s pursuit of young talent has been a cornerstone of their transfer strategy in recent years, with the club investing heavily in players who possess both potential and immediate value.

‘Delap could be a shrewd acquisition for Chelsea, particularly as they look to solve their long-term issues in the center-forward role.

‘At Ipswich Town, Delap has showcased his predatory instincts in front of goal. His movement in the box, combined with his ability to find space and finish clinically, makes him a standout among young strikers. Delap’s record at youth levels and his continued improvement in professional football demonstrate that he is not only a promising talent but also a consistent goal threat.

‘Chelsea, who have struggled to find a dependable striker since the departure of Diego Costa, could benefit from adding a player with Delap’s goal-scoring pedigree to their ranks.

‘Standing tall and strong, Delap’s physicality is one of his defining attributes. This strength allows him to hold up play effectively, shrug off defenders, and provide a focal point for his team’s attack.

‘The Premier League’s physical nature demands forwards who can withstand challenges, and Delap’s natural physique makes him well-suited to the rigors of top-flight football.

‘He could complement CHELSEA’s dynamic wide players and creative midfielders by offering a robust presence in the penalty area.
