Liverpool Submit £35m Bid for Crystal Palace Star Marc Guehi

Liverpool have made their move for Marc Guehi, tabling a formal £35 million offer to Crystal Palace as Arne Slot looks to tighten up his backline before deadline day, according to David Ornstein.

    Liverpool Step Up Defensive Reinforcements

The Reds have been among the Premier League’s biggest spenders this summer, with Slot adding both flair and steel to his squad. Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz have boosted the attack, while Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez have strengthened the defence.

Still, Liverpool’s vulnerability at the back has been clear, conceding four goals in just two games despite opening the season with back-to-back wins. Slot is keen to address that, and Guehi has been high on the club’s list all summer.

    The Bid on the Table

Liverpool’s proposal is a straightforward £35m deal with no add-ons. Palace are yet to respond, but reports suggest Guehi has already given the green light to a move to Anfield if the clubs can strike an agreement. The Eagles, meanwhile, are exploring potential replacements.

The need for another senior centre-back became more pressing after Jarell Quansah’s exit to Bayer Leverkusen, leaving Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, and Ibrahima Konaté as the only experienced central defenders.

    Guehi’s Rise

Since leaving Chelsea for Palace in 2021, Guehi has built a reputation as one of the most reliable defenders in the league. With 155 senior appearances and an FA Cup winners’ medal after leading Palace to a historic triumph over Manchester City at Wembley, the 25-year-old has proved both his quality and leadership. He also became the club’s youngest captain in a decade, a trait that Liverpool will value highly.

    What’s Next

Liverpool face Burnley at Turf Moor on 14 September, their first match after the window shuts. Slot will be hoping that Guehi is available for selection by then, adding a new dimension to his defensive setup.

Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres endured a tough outing in his side’s narrow 1-0 loss to Liverpool, with his performance stats painting a disappointing picture.

The match was decided by a brilliant 83rd-minute free-kick from Dominik Szoboszlai, who curled a right-footed strike into the top corner from distance — a rare flash of brilliance in an otherwise tense and cautious contest between two title hopefuls. ..Continue Reading

  • Giorgi Mamardashvili ready to challenge for number one at Liverpool

    [ad_1]

Former LIVERPOOL goalkeeper David James accepts new signing Giorgi Mamardashvili has the self-belief to think he can displace Alisson as first choice but patience may be the quality which serves him best.

The Georgia international joined the squad this summer after agreeing a move to Anfield from Valencia 12 months ago, and he will look to challenge Allison for that number one spot at Anfield over the next 12 months.

Alisson is one of the best goalkeepers in world football, he is a man that can walk into pretty much any side around the world, But Mamardashvili does not care and will look to become the clubs new number one, according to James.

“You have to understand Liverpool haven’t looked at Mamardashvili and thought ‘We need to fill a gap here’,” James told the PA news agency at an event for Carlsberg.

“Liverpool is one of the biggest clubs in the world and it’s not often you get asked twice. Mamardashvili has come in as a direct challenger.

“He will have to believe he is good enough to play for Liverpool, one of the toughest goalkeeping positions in world football.

“But he has played at major tournaments and international finals and excelled so I don’t think the occasion is going to faze him.

“It will just be interesting if he doesn’t start the season how motivated he will be to wait for his opportunities, because he will get opportunities.”

    IcFootballnews Says…

Mamardashvili is a top stopper, Alisson is world class and displacing him as that LIVERPOOL number one will be very hard. But tis is probably the right time as Arne Slot wants this Liverpool squad to be his squad, and not Jurgen Klopps.

Mamardashvili will get his chances to impress the Dutch boss, so it will be interesting to see if he can displace Alisson, these two are top stoppers.

  • Liverpool ready to sign PSG star Bradley Barcola

    [ad_1]

According to L’Equipe, LIVERPOOL are ready to reignite their interest in Bradley Barcola, who is a long-term target, as they continue to face difficulties in their pursuit of Alexander Isak.

Liverpool have already spent almost £300 million ($400m) this summer, as they have signed Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong, but it has been widely speculated that Isak is a player the club would like to acquire.

Isak had his best season in the Premier League last year and netted an impressive 23 goals for the Toon, but he has been all over the headlines over the past week after it emerged that he has asked to leave Newcastle.

That prompted Liverpool to make their move to try and get a deal done, with many reports in the media claiming that the Reds had submitted an offer of £110 million to try and get Newcastle to offload their star man, but their bid for the Newcastle star has been rejected.

And with the Toon reportedly keen to not lower their asking price, both the PSG star and Real Madrid’s Rodrygo are seen as potential alternatives.

A deal to land Barcola would reportedly cost around €100m (£133.5m) in addition to what has already gone out of the Reds’ account, but the Anfield club is supposedly ready to make a bid

    IcFootballnews Says…

The players that LIVERPOOL have already signed this summer are really impressive, they will add some more quality to that attack and defence, do they really need another striker?

Isak is world class, but he is not worth the money that is being talked about and considering his injuries over the seasons, it could actually end up being a waste of money because he has only had one real great season in the Premier League during his stay in England.

  • Liverpool Prepare Late Bid for Marc Guehi

Liverpool Prepare Late Bid for Marc Guehi

    [ad_1]

Liverpool are reportedly gearing up to make a late move for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi as uncertainty grows over Ibrahima Konaté’s long-term role at Anfield, according to Football Insider.

Reds Keen to Bolster Defence Before Window Closes

Liverpool have already enjoyed a productive summer, landing Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez, Florian Wirtz, and Jeremie Frimpong. But while attacking and wide areas have been reinforced, the club is still eyeing defensive upgrades—particularly at centre-back.

With Jarell Quansah departing and Konaté’s future under review, manager Arne Slot wants added stability at the back. The club remains unconvinced by Konaté’s inconsistency and injury record, despite his contract running until June 2026. There’s also speculation he could be sold if the right offer arrives.

Marc Guehi: Premier League-Proven and Up for Grabs?

Marc Guehi has developed into one of the Premier League’s most reliable centre-backs since joining Crystal Palace. The 23-year-old was pivotal in Palace’s surprise FA Cup win over Manchester City and continues to impress with his consistency and leadership.

Statistically, Guehi averaged 4.6 clearances, 4.3 recoveries, 1.8 tackles per game, and won 60% of his duels last season. He also maintained a passing accuracy of 84%—a key trait for a defender in Liverpool’s system.

His contract runs until 2026, but with the defender eligible to sign a pre-contract abroad by January, Palace may consider selling now rather than risk losing him for free.

£50m Price Tag Could Be Negotiable

Liverpool reportedly value Guehi at £40 million—£10 million shy of Palace’s asking price. However, with the clock ticking on the transfer window, both clubs could find a compromise.

Joe Gomez remains the only senior backup to Virgil van Dijk and Konaté, and given his own injury history, Slot is pushing for an additional high-quality option. Guehi fits the bill perfectly: Premier League experience, defensive solidity, and age on his side.

  • Liverpool Making Progress in Talks to Sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle

Liverpool Making Progress in Talks to Sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle

    [ad_1]

Liverpool are reportedly making significant strides in their pursuit of Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, according to renowned journalist Florian Plettenberg.

After winning the Premier League title last season, the Reds are now focused on revamping their attacking options—particularly the centre-forward role. Despite their success, Liverpool often lacked a natural No.9, with Luis Díaz deployed out of position before his move to Bayern Munich.

Arne Slot is ready to shake things up. Darwin Núñez could be on his way out following an inconsistent campaign, and while Liverpool have already splashed £80 million on Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt, the club remains keen on bringing in another top-tier striker. That man, it seems, is Alexander Isak.

    Isak Pushes for Liverpool Move

Newcastle are reluctant to lose their star forward, but their stance has weakened after Isak reportedly submitted a transfer request. The Sweden international is said to be eager to join Liverpool and has already agreed personal terms in principle, with a contract that would run until 2031.

Plettenberg shared the update on X (formerly Twitter), stating:

“Talks between Newcastle and Liverpool over Alexander Isak are progressing well. The player’s camp are very positive about the situation. Isak is hopeful that an agreement between the clubs can be reached. A record bid will be needed.”

    Liverpool Eyeing Record-Breaking Deal

Negotiations between Liverpool and Newcastle are ongoing, with the Merseyside giants prepared to break their transfer record to secure Isak’s signature. Their initial interest predates the Ekitike deal, but Newcastle were adamant the player wasn’t for sale at the time. With the situation evolving quickly, the Magpies are now scouting replacements—RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško is reportedly top of their list.

Isak is widely considered one of the Premier League’s most complete forwards, alongside the likes of Erling Haaland. Known for his pace, finishing, and versatility—he can also operate from the left flank—Isak could be a game-changer in Slot’s tactical setup, potentially forming a lethal partnership with Ekitike.

If Liverpool can get this over the line, their frontline for 2025/26 could be the most fearsome in England.

  • Will Liverpool be signing Rodrygo this summer?

    [ad_1]

Chelsea, Arsenal, LIVERPOOL and Tottenham target Rodrygo Goes has already set his first condition to leave Real Madrid this summer: an annual salary of 12 million euros is wanted according to Fichajes

Rodrygo scored 13 goals and provided over 10 assists in over 50 appearances last season, but Tension has been building between the Brazilian and Real with the winger unhappy with his role in the team with his relationship with his teammates deteriorating significantly.

The former Santos starlet, who joined Real for €45million in 2018, is ‘angry’ with his diminished role and it has been claimed that he would be open to leaving the Spaniards over the next few months, with reports suggesting that he believes he has played his last game for Real.

According to recent reports, Madrid could be willing to part ways with the Brazilian forward if a substantial offer arrives. The ultimate decision, however, will rest with both Rodrygo and new head coach Xabi Alonso.

However, It was claimed Real will be demanding a fee of €100million (£87m) for the player, and now Rodrygo will be looking for an annual fee of around 12 million euros to make the move away from Madrid and join that next club.

    icfootballnews says…

Rodrygo has been world class for a few seasons, he is playing at Real and scoring the goals that big time players should be scoring, but his time at the club is probably coming to the end as the Spaniards look to keep on improving the side.

LIVERPOOL have done some great business already this transfer window, are looking at a few more deals, so adding Rodrygo to the side would be an immediate replacement for Luis Diaz.

His wages may be an issue though.
