Marcus Rashford: Fenerbahce’s stance on hijacking Barcelona switch – Man United News And Transfer News

One anticipated Manchester United reunion at Fenerbahce will not materialise, according to fresh reports from Spain.

Recently, a report from Turkey stated that Jose Mourinho had contacted Marcus Rashford about a potential move to join him in Istanbul.

It was believed the United academy graduate, swayed by “The Special One,” had agreed to join the Turkish Super Lig outfit.

Had the deal gone through, it would have marked a major hijack by the Yellow Canaries. But that prospect has now been ruled out.

    Barcelona prioritise Rashford signing

Major updates concerning Rashford emerged on Friday, painting a clearer picture of the Englishman’s potential transfer.

As relayed by The Peoples Person, European transfer guru Florian Plettenberg claims Barcelona have now identified the United forward as a priority target.

The Spanish league champions were said to favour a move for Luis Diaz over Rashford (after missing out on Nico Williams), but that is no longer the case.

Rashford has now risen to the top of Barca’s winger shortlist, with Hansi Flick reportedly on board with an Old Trafford raid.

While Fenerbahce might have been expected to respond to the Spanish developments, it turns out they have not (and will not).

One less rival in Rashford’s chase

Marca now reports that Mourinho has ruled out a move for the Englishman.

The Spanish outlet cites Rashford’s salary demands and his preference for a switch to Camp Nou as key reasons behind Fenerbahce’s withdrawal.

“The situation to sign Rashford is practically impossible for Fenerbahce due to the high salary he has — earning £18 million per season — and because the striker wants to go to Barcelona,” the outlet says.

“At the moment, the option of him going to Turkish football has been ruled out.”

With Fenerbahce out of the equation, Barcelona has a free run at Rashford; it is unfortunate for INEOS that there will not be a bidding war.

Either way, all eyes now turn to the Catalan giants to show intent, with INEOS hoping a £40 million bid arrives sooner rather than later.

Cross one name off the list, and add one on.

Manchester United are on the hunt for the perfect striker to revive their flailing fortunes next season and the shortlist of possible candidates is now not so short after all.

Since the January window closed, the Red Devils have been linked with Liam Delap, Viktor Gyokeres, Dusan Vlahovic, Victor Osimhen, Hugo Ekitike, Moise Kean, Jean-Philippe Mateta, Samu Aghehowa, Ollie Watkins and Jonathan David, to name but a selection.

    Strike two

The latter, David, seemed like a match made in heaven; a free agent and lethal finisher, he seemed to speak head coach Ruben Amorim’s language in terms of football and part-owners INEOS’ language in terms of finance.

However, today it is official: David has joined Delap in the list of strikers snapped up by other clubs when his transfer to Juventus was confirmed.

Bizarrely, United never even made a bid for the Canadian, at least, not one reported by the mainstream media.

But fear not, the jungle drums have no intention of slowing. As quickly as one name is crossed off the list, another has been added to it: that of Marcus Thuram.

    Fresh blood

According to various reports from Italy, including Calciomercato.com, Thuram, Inter’s talented counterfoil to Lautaro Martinez in Simeone Inzaghi’s 3-5-2 system, could be looking for pastures new after getting involved in a public spat with the club captain following the Nerazzurri’s shock exit from the Club World Cup.

In an interview following the defeat to Fluminense, Martínez openly questioned the commitment of his teammates, saying: “We have a clear message: anyone who wants to stay must stay, anyone who doesn’t want to stay here should leave.”

Martinez mentioned no names, but Inter president Beppe Marota suggested he was referring to Hakan Calhanoglu, who travelled but did not play and is reportedly pushing for a return to his native Turkey to play for Galatasaray.

Calhanoglu posted a long and detailed defence on Instagram, which Thuram liked. He was the only Inter player to do so and the Italian media now believe there is a dressing room rift that could lead to the Frenchman leaving.

Being involved in public spats and posting inappropriate social media content? Thuram would fit right in at United, so add him to the list, why don’t you? And that is exactly what Calciomercato have done.

“Thuram is popular in the Premier League,” the outlet reported. “The teams potentially interested in the number 9, who has a clause of 85 million euros [are] Arsenal and Manchester United, who are looking for a centre-forward…

“…Thuram’s name could be tempting for the English, but PSG should not be underestimated either, having sought him in 2023, before his free transfer to Inter.”

Calcio’s report may turn out to be true, but it seems unlikely. Whatever United’s genuine plans are for a striker, it would be a huge surprise were they to involve paying €85 million for anyone, no matter how good a player.

Marcus Rashford “frantically searching” for new club, Inter Milan ready to answer his prayers – Man United News And Transfer News

    [ad_1]

Inter Milan have shown interest in signing Marcus Rashford from Manchester United, as per reports.

On the back of their embarrassing Champions League final defeat in Munich, Inter have seemingly accelerated their efforts to transform their attack, which failed to register a single goal against Paris Saint-Germain.

Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming Inter are pursuing a deal for United striker Rasmus Hojlund.

Now, according to The Sun, the Nerazzurri are interested in signing Rashford as part of their rebuild following the Champions League demolition.

Aston Villa have the option to turn Rashford’s loan deal into a permanent transfer but they are not expected to exercise the £40 million clause after missing out on Champions League football despite his incredible showing.

The 27-year-old was directly involved in 10 goals, 4 goals and 6 assists, in 17 appearances under Unai Emery.

Meanwhile, his form is also unlikely to resurrect his United career, as he exited Old Trafford after falling out of favour with Ruben Amorim.

It is understood Rashford is “frantically searching for a new club” putting Inter on “red-alert”.

Inter’s toothless attack also played a part in their disastrous Serie A run during the business end of the campaign, giving Napoli a crucial edge and ultimately, the Scudetto.

Accordingly, Inter’s hierarchy believe Rashford could be a “key acquisition” to strengthen their attack. The idea of moving to Italy also “excites” the England international.

United want to part ways with Rashford on a permanent basis but the Serie A giants are reported to be exploring the option of a “long-term loan move.”

Barcelona are also thought to be chasing the United academy product but their financial predicament might make any deal tough to complete.
