Inter Milan have entered the race to sign Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi, potentially hijacking Liverpool’s move for the highly-rated defender. According to reports, negotiations between Liverpool and Palace have stalled, opening the door for Inter to make their move.
Guehi’s Rise in the Premier League
Since joining Crystal Palace from Chelsea in 2021, Guehi has developed into one of the Premier League’s most reliable centre-backs. His consistency and composure at the back have made him a standout performer at Selhurst Park, attracting interest from several elite clubs across Europe. With just one year left on his contract, Palace could soon face a big decision on his future.

Liverpool’s Defensive Concerns
Liverpool remain the most aggressive suitors for Guehi. New boss Arne Slot is eager to strengthen his defensive options with Virgil van Dijk approaching the twilight of his career and Ibrahima Konaté’s form inconsistent.
Despite a 4-2 win over Bournemouth on the opening day, the Reds looked shaky at the back — Van Dijk appeared a step off his usual dominance while Konaté struggled against Bournemouth’s attack. Slot sees Guehi as the perfect long-term solution, but Palace’s £45–50 million valuation remains a stumbling block, with Liverpool reluctant to go beyond £40 million given the player’s contract situation.
Inter Milan Play the Long Game
Inter, meanwhile, are monitoring Guehi with a different strategy. Club president Giuseppe Marotta and sporting director Piero Ausilio have reportedly spoken with the player’s representatives, making it clear that Guehi is firmly on their radar. Rather than rushing into a bidding war, the Nerazzurri are plotting a free transfer in 2026 should the defender opt to run down his Palace contract.
For now, Liverpool lead the chase, but with Palace holding firm on their valuation and Inter waiting patiently, the battle for Guehi’s signature could stretch well beyond this transfer window.
