Crystal Palace chief opens up on Adam Wharton’s links to Manchester United – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United are expected to sign a new midfielder in 2026 to address their issues in the middle of the park. Ruben Amorim has deployed Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro in the midfield pivot, with mixed results so far.

While the Portuguese superstar has adapted his game well to suit a change in position, the Brazilian is not a long-term solution for the job. Casemiro is already in the final 12 months of his contract at the Theatre of Dreams and is likely to be on his way at the end of this season.

With the team struggling to control games, the Red Devils arguably need someone capable of orchestrating the midfield. Adam Wharton was already on the club’s radar in the summer, and recent reports suggest that he is back on their agenda.

Wharton a fine choice for the job

Wharton rose through the ranks at Blackburn Rovers before breaking into the first team in 2022. His performances at Ewood Park earned him admirers at Crystal Palace, who signed him in the summer of 2024.

Despite an injury-ravaged debut campaign, Wharton managed to catch the eye with his ball distribution and his ability to dictate the tempo from deep. He also played a key role in Palace’s FA Cup triumph, finishing the season with two assists from 26 games.

He has been outstanding for the London club this season, registering one assist in 10 games, all of which were starts. United legend Rio Ferdinand has already urged the club to sign the player, comparing him to former midfielder Michael Carrick.

A recent report from The Peoples Person stated that United are already preparing a £60m offer for the 21 year old in 2026, which they believe will be enough to convince the Eagles. Palace co-owner Steve Parish has now responded to the rumours.

    Palace relaxed about the situation

Speaking to talkSPORT, Parish acknowledged that Wharton will want to leave Selhurst Park for a Champions League club in the near future.

“I think Adam at some point will want to play either in the Champions League with us, if we can make that happen, or probably with another club,” said Parish.

“He’s an extraordinary talent. I think right now, and I can’t speak for Adam, but I think he’s focused on his time at Crystal Palace. He had a broken season last season with the groin issues that he had that a lot of young players get.

“I think this season he’s completely focused on putting the games in, getting in the England squad, being a regular for us, and making sure that he can show that Saturday, Sunday, Thursday, Sunday. It’s a difficult programme for us right now. I think he’s very committed to the club. I don’t know where all this stuff comes from.”

When asked about interest from United, Parish added: “If Manchester United want Adam Wharton, that’s nothing surprising really about that.”

“The fact of the matter is he’s got a long contract to run. There’s no pressure on us to do it, and I don’t think there’s any real pressure from the player either.”

Wharton has all the attributes to be an ideal partner for Bruno Fernandes at the heart of Amorim’s midfield. The Englishman’s presence could allow the Portuguese to resume his natural game and have a greater impact higher up on the pitch.

Wharton’s contract expires in 2029, but a recent report states that Palace are already planning to offer him a new deal. As such, prising him away from Selhurst Park may not be straightforward for United.

  • Liverpool set sights on Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi as 2026 priority

Liverpool set sights on Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi as 2026 priority

    [ad_1]

Liverpool may have landed Alexander Isak in a British-record deal, but their pursuit of Marc Guehi ended in frustration after Crystal Palace blocked the move at the last moment.

The Reds had agreed a £35 million fee plus a 10% sell-on clause and even put the England international through a medical on Monday. However, Palace pulled the plug after failing to secure a replacement for their captain, meaning Guehi will remain at Selhurst Park until at least January.

    Guehi Remains on Liverpool’s Radar

According to Lewis Steele of the Daily Mail, Guehi is now Liverpool’s top defensive target for 2026. The club plan to reignite their interest in January or wait until the summer, when the 25-year-old could leave as a free agent.

Currently valued at £40 million on Transfermarkt, Guehi’s price tag would likely drop significantly in January as he enters the final months of his Palace contract.

    Competition Expected from Rivals

Liverpool are not alone in the chase. Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, both long-term admirers of Guehi, are expected to revisit their interest given his reduced market value. Still, Liverpool hold an advantage, having already agreed personal terms with the defender. A guaranteed starting role at Anfield could further tip the balance in their favour.

    Perfect Fit for Klopp’s Defence

With Ibrahima Konaté heavily linked with Real Madrid as his own contract winds down, Guehi represents a ready-made replacement. His leadership qualities and Premier League experience make him a cost-effective option for the champions.

The key question is whether Liverpool will move in January with a modest offer to secure him early, or gamble on waiting until the summer when Guehi could walk away for free.

  • Liverpool Submit £35m Bid for Crystal Palace Star Marc Guehi

Liverpool Submit £35m Bid for Crystal Palace Star Marc Guehi

    [ad_1]

Liverpool have made their move for Marc Guehi, tabling a formal £35 million offer to Crystal Palace as Arne Slot looks to tighten up his backline before deadline day, according to David Ornstein.

    Liverpool Step Up Defensive Reinforcements

The Reds have been among the Premier League’s biggest spenders this summer, with Slot adding both flair and steel to his squad. Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz have boosted the attack, while Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez have strengthened the defence.

Still, Liverpool’s vulnerability at the back has been clear, conceding four goals in just two games despite opening the season with back-to-back wins. Slot is keen to address that, and Guehi has been high on the club’s list all summer.

    The Bid on the Table

Liverpool’s proposal is a straightforward £35m deal with no add-ons. Palace are yet to respond, but reports suggest Guehi has already given the green light to a move to Anfield if the clubs can strike an agreement. The Eagles, meanwhile, are exploring potential replacements.

The need for another senior centre-back became more pressing after Jarell Quansah’s exit to Bayer Leverkusen, leaving Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, and Ibrahima Konaté as the only experienced central defenders.

    Guehi’s Rise

Since leaving Chelsea for Palace in 2021, Guehi has built a reputation as one of the most reliable defenders in the league. With 155 senior appearances and an FA Cup winners’ medal after leading Palace to a historic triumph over Manchester City at Wembley, the 25-year-old has proved both his quality and leadership. He also became the club’s youngest captain in a decade, a trait that Liverpool will value highly.

    What’s Next

Liverpool face Burnley at Turf Moor on 14 September, their first match after the window shuts. Slot will be hoping that Guehi is available for selection by then, adding a new dimension to his defensive setup.

  • Eberechi Eze could leave Crystal Palace

    [ad_1]

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish remained coy over the futures of Eberechi Eze after their Community Shield victory over Liverpool, but admitted the ARSENAL target could leave the club this summer.

Arsenal have joined Liverpool, Man City and Chelsea in spending some big money this transfer window to improve the squad enough to keep up their challenge for that Premier League title next season.

Mikel Arteta has added to pretty much every aspect of the squad and spent over £200 million on new players, but his business may not be done yet as it has been constantly reported that the Gunners are still keen on Eze.

Over the past few seasons, Eze has really improved and showed that he is now ready to make that next step in his career, with his performances also catching the eyes of Liverpool, Man United and Tottenham.

Asked by HaytersTV if days like beating Liverpool in the Community Shield are important in keeping Eze and Guehi at the club, Parish replied: “Yeah of course but players come and go in football clubs. I mean it’s a life cycle isn’t it?

“Hopefully they’ll still be here, that’s what I’d like.”

Amid all the speculation, and quizzed about Arsenal’s interest in Eze, Nigel Winterburn recently told Metro via NewBettingOffers.co.uk: ‘I think he’d be a good fit.

‘Whether we would get him or not I don’t know. He’s a player who I think is a game-changer. He’s a lovely player.

‘Would I love to have him in the Arsenal squad? Of course I would. I don’t know what money Arsenal have got left – they may have to shift out one or two players first.

‘But if you asked me if we should take Eze, I would say yes.’

    IcFootballnews Says…

ARSENAL have already shown that they will spend money on players they really wants, they have pretty much signed all their top targets this summer window. So if they really want to add Eze to the side, then they will.

  • Crystal Palace may be forced into selling Marc Guehi

    [ad_1]

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish admitted the club could be forced to consider selling captain Marc Guehi this summer, amid the constant reports in the media that both Liverpool and CHELSEA are very keen on a transfer deal

The Eagles came back to beat Liverpool in a penalty shoot-out and lift the Community Shield at Wembley and stun the Premier League Champions, adding to their impressive FA Cup win at the back end of last season.

Palace’s second piece of silverware in 86 days was a welcome reprieve from their ongoing legal battle, with the Court of Arbitration of Sport (CAS) now deciding that they will play in the conference League this season and not the Europa League.

Guehi’s contract expires at the end of this campaign and Sunday’s opponents Liverpool are thought to be frontrunners to secure the signature of the 25-year-old England defender, but CHELSEA have been showing some late interest.

Now, amid all the speculation and rumours, Parish has opened up and claimed that Palace may be forced into letting one of the clubs star players leave this transfer window: “Yes. I mean, we’d have to, of course,” said Parish, who is also co-owner, when asked if he would seriously entertain tempting bids for his skipper over the next three weeks.

“For players of that calibre to leave on a free, it’s a problem. No doubt about it, unfortunately.

“We had one bid (last summer) but Joachim (Andersen) went (to Fulham) and we couldn’t afford to lose both of them. We then had another bid in January but that was a difficult situation as well, and the player had a point of view on that one.

“So we just have to see what happens but it needs a new contract or a conclusion of some kind.”

    IcFootballnews Says…

Guehi is ready for that next step in his career, he is ready to play for a massive club like CHELSEA, but he may be very happy to stay put as he seems to be winning trophies at Palace.

If he is sold this summer, he will be a massive loss that is for sure..

  • West Ham Join Crystal Palace in Tiago Djalo Transfer Race

West Ham Join Crystal Palace in Tiago Djalo Transfer Race

    [ad_1]

West Ham United are ready to battle it out with Crystal Palace for the signature of Juventus defender Tiago Djalo, as both Premier League sides look to strengthen their backlines ahead of the new season.

According to Tuttosport, the Hammers have submitted an enquiry for the 25-year-old Portuguese centre-back, who spent the 2024/25 campaign on loan at FC Porto. Djalo is on the radar of several clubs after a mixed spell in Portugal, and a Premier League switch could now be on the cards.

    Djalo’s Search for Consistency

Since his move from Lille to Juventus in January 2024, Djalo has found it tough to settle. With just one appearance for the Bianconeri before being loaned out, he was hoping for a fresh start at Porto—but he couldn’t cement a regular starting spot, tallying only 17 appearances across all competitions.

Despite limited game time, Djalo’s physical profile and potential have kept him firmly in the spotlight. He even chipped in with two goals for Porto, showcasing his threat on set pieces.

London Clubs Circle as Summer Heats Up

Crystal Palace have been long-time admirers of Djalo and remain keen as doubts linger over Marc Guehi’s future. Meanwhile, West Ham are exploring defensive reinforcements with doubts over Mavropanos and Nayef Aguerd’s consistency.

With both clubs eager to bolster their squads, the race for Djalo could heat up quickly. London may well be calling—but which club will win the tug of war?

  • Inter Milan Step Up Pursuit of Crystal Palace Star Marc Guehi

Inter Milan Step Up Pursuit of Crystal Palace Star Marc Guehi

    [ad_1]

Inter Milan are ramping up their efforts to sign Crystal Palace and England centre-back Marc Guehi, with Liverpool and Manchester United also hot on the trail. According to TEAMtalk, the Serie A champions are eager to beat their Premier League rivals to the punch in the race for the highly-rated 24-year-old defender.

Guehi’s Rise and Why He’s in Demand

Since his move from Chelsea to Palace in 2021, Guehi has grown into one of the Premier League’s most consistent and composed centre-backs. With over 150 appearances and leadership experience as a stand-in captain, his blend of maturity and athleticism has attracted scouts across Europe.

Liverpool have kept tabs on him for months, eyeing a long-term successor to Virgil van Dijk and seeking added depth with Ibrahima Konaté’s future uncertain. Meanwhile, United’s interest raises eyebrows, given their already-crowded defensive line—though Guehi’s reliability could offer insurance against frequent injuries.

    Inter Milan’s Defensive Revamp

Inter’s interest signals serious intent. With veteran defenders Francesco Acerbi and Stefan de Vrij nearing the end of their top-flight careers, the Nerazzurri see Guehi as the ideal profile to anchor their backline for years to come. Talks are expected to intensify in the coming weeks.

As the summer window heats up, Guehi’s future looks increasingly likely to involve a high-profile switch—now the question is: Premier League or Serie A?
