Man Utd make move to sign £212,000-a-week striker as transfer stalls

Striker Daniel Oyetunde signs up with Arsenal

Daniel Oyetunde claims the hard work is only just beginning after it emerged this week that he had officially signed up to his first ARSENAL contract, as he now has plans to work hard and one day break into that Gunners side.

The striker joined Arsenal an under-15 and following his two-year scholarship, and now the promising forward is excited to continue his journey after Arsenal agreed to keep him at the club a little longer and sign him up to his first profressional contract

He said on the Arsenal website: “I joined as an under-15, so this is my fifth year at the club. I’ve enjoyed every step, learnt a lot while I’ve been here.

“Obviously, my scholarship the last two years, I’ve learnt an immense amount from the coaches and the players I’ve played with. So this next year will be very interesting as well.

“It’s been a good day, a happy day with my family, with my agent. I signed my first professional contract.

“Obviously, grateful to God, grateful to the club for allowing me this opportunity. I’m ready to start the hard work.”

“For me, I think establishing myself in the under-21’s team and when given the opportunity to play any higher, taking it or train any higher, taking that opportunity.

“Also trying to stay fit and just taking every day an opportunity as it comes.

“Some of my biggest inspirations would be Thierry Henry and in the current first team maybe Bukayo Saka.

“The way they conduct themselves on and off the pitch and the fearlessness they use driving with the ball and scoring goals is something I wish I could implement into my game.”

Man Utd ‘decide’ new striker target after accepting defeat in Gyokeres transfer saga

Having already secured Matheus Cunha from Wolves, United have now turned their attention to Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo and are also exploring other attacking options.

Ruben Amorim is also in the market for a reliable No. 9, especially after Rasmus Hojlund managed just a few Premier League goals last season.

Gyokeres had been on Amorim’s shortlist due to their time together at Sporting, but the Swedish striker now looks set to join Arsenal after pushing for a move away from Portugal.

In light of that, Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins has emerged as a serious target for United, with the striker reportedly open to a switch to Old Trafford.

Reports suggest United have ramped up their interest in Watkins following the collapse of the Gyokeres pursuit.

Initial discussions have taken place between United and Villa, with Watkins said to be unsettled after losing his starting role late last season.

Villa are believed to be holding out for a significant fee, but United are hesitant to meet that valuation due to the striker’s age and limited resale potential.

Watkins still has time remaining on his current contract at Villa Park.

United reportedly offered Marcus Rashford in a potential swap deal, but Villa declined after the forward’s underwhelming loan spell in Birmingham.

Another complication is United’s lack of European football, which could make it harder to convince top-tier players to join.

With Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee struggling to meet expectations at Old Trafford, Yoro might welcome the arrival of a top-class striker at United.

Before his £52 million move from Lille, Yoro had only completed one full season of senior football with his hometown club.

His latest encounter with Lacazette came in the second leg of United’s Europa League quarter-final against Lyon in April, marking their fifth meeting.

Lacazette has managed to score four times in those matchups, leaving a lasting impression on the young defender.

‘The toughest striker [I’ve faced]? I would say Lacazette, even in Ligue 1. He was very good,’ Yoro told Rising Ballers.

‘He’s got a lot of experience because he played Premier League and Ligue 1.

‘And his positioning in games, sometimes it’s difficult for defenders, always in your back.’

Yoro opened his account for Man United in the first leg of the team’s quarter-final with Lyon, directing home Manuel Ugarte’s effort with a precise header from close range.

‘Honestly, I was not ready to score!’ Yoro joked when looking back on the 2-2 draw at Lyon’s Groupama Stadium.

‘But I didn’t want to celebrate because I wanted to play quick to try to win the game.

‘I was really happy because my family was there and after the game, they said they were really happy for me and proud so it was good.’

Going forward, Yoro wants to add another string to his bow by bringing more ‘aggression’ to his game.

Asked which area he most needs to improve, Yoro said: ‘Maybe I would say, sometimes, my aggression, being more aggressive.

‘With the ball, I need to improve, of course, but I think I’m good so maybe, sometimes, I need to be more aggressive.’

Yoro sees his long-term future at Old Trafford and is desperate to start adding major trophies to his collection sooner rather than later.

Quizzed on where he sees himself in five years’ time, he responded: ‘I hope I will stay here, for sure, in Manchester.

‘[Hopefully] I can say that I’ve won some titles and something has changed, maybe I have a child.’

Arsenal have been playing brilliantly in recent weeks and picked up some stunning results, most recently that shock 5-1 in over Premier League Champions Manchester City, which sent shockwaves throughout Europe.

Gabriel Jesus is once again out for the rest of the season, while Kai Havertz is not a striker that can score 25-30 goals a season, and many hope that Arsenal will eventually delve into that transfer kitty to try and add a better forward to that front line.

The likes of Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo, Dusan Vlahovic and Yoane Wissa have all been linked with a move to the Emirates, as well as Ollie Watkins and Alexander Isak, And Scholes believes that Odegaard will become even better if the Gunners sign a proper centre forward.

‘Imagine him with a centre forward, though. With a proper centre forward,’ Scholes said on The Overlap when discussing Odegaard’s form at Arsenal.

‘Martin Odegaard is a brilliant player, he can put a ball anywhere he wants. He hasn’t got that in front of him, a No. 10 needs that in front of him.

‘I don’t think Kai Havertz is that type of player, even though he might make the odd run here and there.

‘You’re thinking Isak or Duran, the lad from Villa, if he had that in front of him, it makes him become a better player as well because he’s move involved with goals.’
