Ivan Toney emerges as surprise target if this United star leaves – Man United News And Transfer News

    [ad_1]

A meagre four Premier League goals in the whole of last season for Rasmus Hojlund proved to Ruben Amorim that the Dane was simply not good enough to lead the line for Manchester United on his own.

Despite the 22-year-old’s desire to stay and fight for his place, INEOS ruthlessly cast him aside, with the Denmark international joining Napoli on loan.

He is expected to join them permanently, given the kind of start he has enjoyed for the defending Serie A champions.

The co-owners decided to splurge big to land Benjamin Sesko as his replacement, and the Slovenian now has back-to-back Premier League goals and is showing signs that he is the perfect striker to play up front for the Red Devils.

    Zirkzee lack of minutes

The former RB Leipzig star’s superb form has meant hardly any minutes for Joshua Zirkzee, who is contemplating leaving in January, with Serie A and English top-flight outfits chasing his signature.

INEOS are expected to hold talks with him to convince him to stay, while Amorim also does not want the Dutchman to leave.

But should he continue to get overlooked, the 24-year-old will look to leave once the transfer window reopens as he looks to regain his place in the Netherlands national team ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

In that case, the Red Devils will look to recruit someone as a replacement and Talksport have suggested that Ivan Toney, currently playing for Al-Ahli in the Saudi Pro League, could be the chosen alternative.

The Englishman has been on fire for his club, netting eight times in 10 games this term, while in the previous campaign, he found the back of the net 30 times.

    Toney eyeing January loan

Ivan Toney remains intent on winning back his place in the England national team for the World Cup, and a short-term loan deal makes a lot of sense.

While no discussions are advanced at this stage, the 20-time English league champions could see Tottenham Hotspur join them in the race.

Thomas Frank, who is the current Spurs boss, was the 29-year-old’s manager during his time at Brentford, and a reunion could be on the cards.

“What’s going to be really interesting in the next few months is, will Thomas Tuchel tell Ivan Toney definitively, ‘By being in Saudi, you’re further down the pecking order’?,” journalist Ben Jacobs said.

“And Toney’s aspiration is to play in the World Cup. Plus the fact the way the calendar falls, there’s a Ramadan break and that is in the months, at the moment, of February through to mid-March.

United could pounce if Zirkzee leaves

“It wouldn’t actually be a bad idea for players that want to stay sharp, to do a half-season loan, and then maybe even go back to Saudi Arabia. There’ll be interest in Ivan Toney.

“Al Ahli sources say they don’t want to sell, there’s a brand new sporting director there and he doesn’t want to let Ivan Toney go. And then as far as Premier League interest, I think we’ve heard links with Tottenham due to the Thomas Frank connection.

“I’m not aware of any Spurs approach at this stage, some have even said Manchester United, and again, I think Manchester United are banking on Benjamin Sesko and they’ve also got Matheus Cunha, who can play at No.9.

“But if Joshua Zirkzee left, you never know, another striker could come in at Old Trafford but at the moment, it’s all quiet as far as a Premier League return is concerned.”

An experienced backup for Sesko would mean less pressure on the Slovenia international, but Toney’s wages would prove to be a major hurdle. And midfield seems to be the area in the most urgent need of reinforcements. INEOS also don’t want to lose Zirkzee. An interesting January window awaits for United.

  • Gianluigi Donnarumma TO LEAVE PSG this summer

    [ad_1]

PSG have omitted keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma from their squad to face Tottenham Hotspur in the Super Cup on Wednesday, opening the door for the likes of CHELSEA, Manchester United and any other team to make their moves.

Regarded as one of the finest stoppers in the world, Gianluigi Donnarumma is not pleased with his current situation at Paris Saint-Germain, according to the many reports in the media over the past few days.

The 26-year-old is yet to reach an agreement over a new contract with PSG and is entering the final year of his deal at the Parc des Princes. As such, Chelsea, City and Bayern are keeping close tabs on the Italy No. 1’s situation,

According to recent reports on L’Equipe, PSG officials are looking to sell star goalkeeper Donnarumma this summer after the Italian refused to sign a new contract. The reigning European and French champions do not want to go through a similar situation to Mbappe’s when the France captain walked out of the club as a free agent in the summer of 2024 and joined Real.

Now, Clubs have bee given the green light to sign the worlds best goalkeeper, after omitting Donnarumma from their squad to face Tottenham Hotspur in the Super Cup on Wednesday

PSG announced the signing of keeper Lucas Chevalier from Lille today which throws Donnarumma’s future at PSG into major doubt. Sky Sports News has been told the Italy goalkeeper will only leave if a project is seen as the right fit – and he won’t be forced out.

Manchester United are understood to have kept an eye on his situation earlier in the window amid doubts over Andre Onana’s future, while Chelsea are also reportedly interested in adding a new stopper to the side.

    IcFootballnews View..

There is no doubt that Donnarumma is the best goalkeeper in world football, and has the potential to become one of the greatest, he is only 26-years of age and has won so much in his career.

If the reports are true and CHELSEA will have the chance to get a transfer deal done, he would be an amazing signing for the Blues and one that would solve an issue for Enzo Maresca.

The transfer window is open for another month, it will be interesting to see how this all plays out, but he would be a great signing for Chelsea that is for sure.

  • Ruben Amorim must use this back three this season – opinion – Man United News And Transfer News

Ruben Amorim must use this back three this season – opinion – Man United News And Transfer News

    [ad_1]

With the transfer market in full flow, Manchester United are on a mission to build a squad that can compete at the highest level.

Although the club has signed plenty of attacking talent, including Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo, and Matheus Cunha, there hasn’t been much movement on the defensive end.

Aside from wing-back Diego Leon, there haven’t been any defensive signings as of yet, begging the question – do Man United have sufficient coverage at the back?

At closer inspection, it appears that they do, and there are three centre-backs that manager Ruben Amorim should rely on regularly this coming season.

    Leny Yoro

At just 19 years of age, Yoro has integrated seamlessly into the club since his arrival last season, appearing truly comfortable in Amorim’s setup.

Regularly playing at LCB during the pre-season, Yoro has the physicality and technical ability to hold the defensive line. He also happens to have the pace that’s necessary to burst forward and assist his attacking teammates.

Winning 61% of his ground duels in the Premier League and 63% in the Europa League last season, Yoro also proved to be a strong tackler with precise marking ability. He averaged 1.5 tackles per game in the Europa League and 1.4 per game in the league. (Stats via Sofascore)

Prior to the friendly match with Fiorentina on Saturday, Yoro had not been dribbled past in 12 successive matches, proving indestructible at present.

    Matthijs de Ligt

Despite being fairly injury-prone, De Ligt has proven to be an anchor at the back, providing reliability to United at crucial moments last season.

He proved vital in United’s run to the UEFA Europa League title, particularly in the round of 16 tie with Real Sociedad.

With his great height, the Dutchman has won 66% of his aerial battles in the Premier League, making him invaluable from corners and free-kicks, while he also produced 90% passing accuracy and 95% passing from within his own half, making minimal blunders that handed scoring chances to opponents.

Together with Yoro, De Ligt is an imposing defender who could provide some much-needed reliability so long as his injury troubles don’t persist.

    Ayden Heaven

Much like Yoro, Heaven is a young rising star with plenty of room for growth.

Although he suffered an injury last season and is still fairly unproven, the youngster is full of energy and showed just how much he wants to play for United with a passionate performance against Fiorentina.

In fact, he posted 100% long pass accuracy while winning 100% of his duels, both aerial and on the ground.

While it may be necessary to rest him fairly regularly and perhaps use a more experienced option, such as Harry Maguire, in his stead, Heaven should be given enough time on the pitch to grow. What’s more, United’s calendar is not as intense this season, given the lack of European football, meaning that there is a lower risk of overexerting the promising centre-back.

It’s also important to remember that while Luke Shaw has featured prominently at the back this summer, he is a converted full-back who clearly doesn’t exhibit the same form as he did prior to his lengthy injury issues last season. What’s more, time is not on his side, with his youth well behind him.

While De Ligt is an aerial specialist, Heaven has proven effective on the ground by winning 63% of his ground duels in the league last season, thereby perfectly complementing the Dutch star.

Should Amorim select Yoro, De Ligt, and Heaven as his regular trio at the back, United could produce a defensive masterclass next season, with three tall, quick, physically strong, and ambitious defenders at their disposal, passionately playing for the badge each time they take to the pitch under the Old Trafford floodlights.

  • Man United’s Benjamin Sesko battle with Newcastle United: major update emerges this evening – Man United News And Transfer News

Man United’s Benjamin Sesko battle with Newcastle United: major update emerges this evening – Man United News And Transfer News

    [ad_1]

Manchester United’s battle with Newcastle United for the signature of RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko took a huge twist this evening according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein.

    A tale of two cities

The two clubs have been locking horms over the transfer of the young striker, with Newcastle already having had a €75 million plus €5 million bid rejected by the German outfit.

It has been widely reported that the player was biding his time in deciding which club he would prefer to join, while for their part, United were said to be willing to match Newcastle’s bid for him.

    A new bid comes in

In a major update this evening, the renowned Ornstein claims that:

“Red Bull Leipzig have received an improved offer from Newcastle United to sign Benjamin Sesko.”

He added that the opening €75m + €5m bid “was deemed insufficient by Leipzig, leading Newcastle to raise that to at least €80m.

    Cold Feet

The hammer blow for United fans came in the reporter’s next sentence:

“Sesko is also wanted by Manchester United, but a proposal has yet to arrive from Old Trafford and the figures they have indicated a willingness to pay are lower than those of Newcastle at present.

He adds that Newcastle are now in a much stronger position than United “after a day of positive talks held by their co-owner Jamie Reuben with Leipzig and the 22-year-old striker.”

Ornstein does offer hope to United, noting that Sesko’s preference will determine the outcome to some extent. There is a “gentleman’s agreement” in place between player and club that he will be allowed to leave if a suitable offer comes in.

The reporter believes it unlikely, however, that Leipzig would agree to sell to United for a fee they have already rejected from Newcastle even if the player’s preference were to join the Red Devils.

United will bid if the player picks them

Another top tier reporter, Fabrizio Romano, corroborated Ornstein’s story this evening, adding that they “confirmed again to RB Leipzig that they will bid if Šeško picks them.”

  • Will Liverpool be signing Rodrygo this summer?

    [ad_1]

Chelsea, Arsenal, LIVERPOOL and Tottenham target Rodrygo Goes has already set his first condition to leave Real Madrid this summer: an annual salary of 12 million euros is wanted according to Fichajes

Rodrygo scored 13 goals and provided over 10 assists in over 50 appearances last season, but Tension has been building between the Brazilian and Real with the winger unhappy with his role in the team with his relationship with his teammates deteriorating significantly.

The former Santos starlet, who joined Real for €45million in 2018, is ‘angry’ with his diminished role and it has been claimed that he would be open to leaving the Spaniards over the next few months, with reports suggesting that he believes he has played his last game for Real.

According to recent reports, Madrid could be willing to part ways with the Brazilian forward if a substantial offer arrives. The ultimate decision, however, will rest with both Rodrygo and new head coach Xabi Alonso.

However, It was claimed Real will be demanding a fee of €100million (£87m) for the player, and now Rodrygo will be looking for an annual fee of around 12 million euros to make the move away from Madrid and join that next club.

    icfootballnews says…

Rodrygo has been world class for a few seasons, he is playing at Real and scoring the goals that big time players should be scoring, but his time at the club is probably coming to the end as the Spaniards look to keep on improving the side.

LIVERPOOL have done some great business already this transfer window, are looking at a few more deals, so adding Rodrygo to the side would be an immediate replacement for Luis Diaz.

His wages may be an issue though.

  • Will Arsenal sign Noni Maduake this summer?

    [ad_1]

Frank Sinclair is fearful that chelsea would be making a ‘crazy mistake’ if they were to sell Noni Madueke to ARSENAL this summer, amid all the speculation and rumours that talks have been held by the Gunners.

The 23-year-old recorded 16 goal contributions in 41 games in all competitions last season, but has been linked with a surprise £50million move to Arsenal.

Chelsea have been doing alot of transfer business over the past few weeks and after bringing in Joao Pedro from Brighton, the Blues are looking to free up some space in that attack, if you believe all the reports in the media.

But despite the reports, the Gunners haven’t spoken with the Blues and haven’t offered a contract to Madueke, and he reality is that Arsenal have not sent any proposal to Chelsea for Madueke as of today.

But amid all the speculation and rumours, Sinclair believes his former club would be foolish to part ways with Madueke at this point in his career: ‘I think that would be going against the grain of what Chelsea are trying to achieve,’ Sinclair told Metro via Kasinoseta.com.

‘They have been recruiting a young squad and letting them develop for four or five years and Madueke should be a big part of those plans, given how he has grown.

‘He’s got that recognition from England now as well, and that’s brought his confidence on even more.

‘Pedro Neto is obviously also on that right side, but given the competitions Chelsea are in next season, you need all these players if you are going to compete and bridge that gap at the top of the table.

‘I would be surprised if they let him go. I know Arsenal like to come in for the odd Chelsea player every now and again, but for me, that would just be crazy to let Madueke go, especially to a rival.’

  • Harvey Elliott explains why he would consider leaving Liverpool this summer – Liverpool FC

Harvey Elliott explains why he would consider leaving Liverpool this summer – Liverpool FC

    [ad_1]

It is no secret that Harvey Elliott is contemplating his future this summer and he has explained his possible motivations for doing so ahead of a summer tournament with England.

With 2,776 minutes during Jurgen Klopp‘s final season, Elliott would have hoped to be relied upon by Arne Slot in the same manner but he managed only 826 minutes this season.

The 22-year-old made valuable contributions, including five goals and three assists, but was starved of opportunities, leaving his future at his boyhood club in doubt.

He has been honest with what his future could entail as while he is not desperate to leave Liverpool, he knows the reasons why it will be up for discussion throughout the summer.

Speaking to members of the press at England’s training base, including Hayters, Elliott discussed his future at Anfield.

He said: “I think it’s a situation that me and, you know, the team on my behalf have to have a conversation about.

Liverpool players pose with the trophy after winning the premier league.

“Because coming into an age now where I’m 22, I’m gonna be 23 next season, and I don’t really wanna be wasting years in my career because it’s a short career, you don’t know what’s gonna happen.

“Injuries and things could shorten it. So I think it’s a situation that, as I’ve said before, I need to reflect, I need to see if I’m content in doing what I’m doing and how can I improve as a player.

    • READ: LFC midfielder admits “toughest” season – but Slot is “unbelievable”

“That’s the most important thing, that’s the main thing really, I just wanna improve and be the best possible version of myself and the best player I can be.

“And if that’s to go somewhere else then it’s a decision that I’m going to have to make, I just need to see what happens.”

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3AhCDI6IEmo

As for the possibility of moving abroad, Elliott added: “Yeah maybe, as I said, it’s a situation that me and my team need to reflect on, to look at and see what the best path is for me.

“It could still be difficult, nothing makes me want to leave. I love the club, I love the fans, and the team I support them as well.

“But, as I said, most importantly it’s just about what’s best for my career and I just need to make that decision.”

Elliott will attract transfer interest but a decision on his future will likely be delayed as he competes in the U21 Euros with England, which gets underway on June 12 for the Young Lions.

Fellow Reds Tyler Morton and Jarell Quansah, who also experienced a tough 2024/25 season under Slot, are also part of Lee Carsley’s squad.
