James Scanlon: New wave of admirers scrambling to sign Man United talent – Man United News And Transfer News

    [ad_1]

Manchester United starlet James Scanlon is a man in great demand, with Scottish clubs reportedly also jostling to sign him on loan.

Scanlon making waves in the academy

Scanlon has steadily progressed through United’s ranks since joining the club from Derby County in February 2021.

His standout displays in midfield have turned heads, and he has built a particular reputation for his goal-scoring prowess.

Last season, Scanlon topped the scoring charts for the Under-18s with 21 goals in all competitions, while also adding three more for the Under-21s.

He made 33 appearances in total across all competitions.

Scanlon has yet to make his senior debut for United but was named in the matchday squad for a Europa League tie against Real Sociedad.

Yet, he is already an established member of the Gibraltar national team and scored his second goal for the nation earlier this summer.

A report covered by The Peoples Person at the start of the month relayed that the club was planning to loan out Scanlon in a bid to aid his development.

It was stated that teams from Germany, France, Belgium, Spain and England were all eyeing him. Now, it has emerged that there is also a queue of teams from Scotland in the race for his signature.

    Loan interest in Scanlon mounts

According to the Daily Mail, there are multiple Scottish clubs eyeing Scanlon but United’s preference would be to keep him and personally oversee his progress.

Nathan Salt notes, “Teams in Scotland are making a concerted push to bring in Under 21s winger James Scanlon on loan before the window closes.”

“While no talks are ongoing with any club and United’s preference to keep him around with the 21s.”

“Scanlon remains one player who could be picked up very late in the window.”

It will certainly be interesting to see how this situation develops and where Scanlon will be by the time the window

  • Ruben Amorim must use this back three this season – opinion – Man United News And Transfer News

Ruben Amorim must use this back three this season – opinion – Man United News And Transfer News

    [ad_1]

With the transfer market in full flow, Manchester United are on a mission to build a squad that can compete at the highest level.

Although the club has signed plenty of attacking talent, including Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo, and Matheus Cunha, there hasn’t been much movement on the defensive end.

Aside from wing-back Diego Leon, there haven’t been any defensive signings as of yet, begging the question – do Man United have sufficient coverage at the back?

At closer inspection, it appears that they do, and there are three centre-backs that manager Ruben Amorim should rely on regularly this coming season.

    Leny Yoro

At just 19 years of age, Yoro has integrated seamlessly into the club since his arrival last season, appearing truly comfortable in Amorim’s setup.

Regularly playing at LCB during the pre-season, Yoro has the physicality and technical ability to hold the defensive line. He also happens to have the pace that’s necessary to burst forward and assist his attacking teammates.

Winning 61% of his ground duels in the Premier League and 63% in the Europa League last season, Yoro also proved to be a strong tackler with precise marking ability. He averaged 1.5 tackles per game in the Europa League and 1.4 per game in the league. (Stats via Sofascore)

Prior to the friendly match with Fiorentina on Saturday, Yoro had not been dribbled past in 12 successive matches, proving indestructible at present.

    Matthijs de Ligt

Despite being fairly injury-prone, De Ligt has proven to be an anchor at the back, providing reliability to United at crucial moments last season.

He proved vital in United’s run to the UEFA Europa League title, particularly in the round of 16 tie with Real Sociedad.

With his great height, the Dutchman has won 66% of his aerial battles in the Premier League, making him invaluable from corners and free-kicks, while he also produced 90% passing accuracy and 95% passing from within his own half, making minimal blunders that handed scoring chances to opponents.

Together with Yoro, De Ligt is an imposing defender who could provide some much-needed reliability so long as his injury troubles don’t persist.

    Ayden Heaven

Much like Yoro, Heaven is a young rising star with plenty of room for growth.

Although he suffered an injury last season and is still fairly unproven, the youngster is full of energy and showed just how much he wants to play for United with a passionate performance against Fiorentina.

In fact, he posted 100% long pass accuracy while winning 100% of his duels, both aerial and on the ground.

While it may be necessary to rest him fairly regularly and perhaps use a more experienced option, such as Harry Maguire, in his stead, Heaven should be given enough time on the pitch to grow. What’s more, United’s calendar is not as intense this season, given the lack of European football, meaning that there is a lower risk of overexerting the promising centre-back.

It’s also important to remember that while Luke Shaw has featured prominently at the back this summer, he is a converted full-back who clearly doesn’t exhibit the same form as he did prior to his lengthy injury issues last season. What’s more, time is not on his side, with his youth well behind him.

While De Ligt is an aerial specialist, Heaven has proven effective on the ground by winning 63% of his ground duels in the league last season, thereby perfectly complementing the Dutch star.

Should Amorim select Yoro, De Ligt, and Heaven as his regular trio at the back, United could produce a defensive masterclass next season, with three tall, quick, physically strong, and ambitious defenders at their disposal, passionately playing for the badge each time they take to the pitch under the Old Trafford floodlights.

Man United set internal deadline to get Carlos Baleba deal over the line – Man United News And Transfer News

    [ad_1]

Manchester United have significantly improved the team’s attack, and now, Ruben Amorim seems to be eyeing midfield reinforcements.

Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko have all arrived, but there are concerns regarding the balance in the middle of the park.

Manuel Ugarte has struggled in pre-season, while Casemiro does not have the legs to start week-in and week-out in the Premier League. Which explains the links with Brighton and Hove Albion’s Carlos Baleba.

The Red Devils have been in touch via intermediaries, but they are aware that a deal will be difficult to crack given the window closes in 20 days, and that they need to raise money through player sales before that.

    Carlos Baleba deadline

The Peoples Person has already relayed that the head coach feels the 21-year-old would be the perfect addition for his style of play.

Brighton will likely demand a British transfer record to let their midfield dynamo leave, and many have suggested that a move is more likely next summer.

One thing is clear from INEOS’ dealings this summer — news of a transfer does not leak until and unless they are confident of sealing the deal.

And Talksport journalist Anil Kandola has revealed that the co-owners have set a internal deadline to get the deal done and they feel a deal is possible in this window itself.

“It’s my understanding @ManUtd are ready to push hard to sign Carlos Baleba THIS summer…

“As previously reported, #MUFC see Baleba as the perfect midfield signing and now, have set an internal date to find a conclusion either way.

    INEOS seem confident

United understand it won’t be easy as #BHAFC will stick very firm to their valuation, but there is belief on United’s side a deal can be completed before the window closes.

“Not a lot time left to get a deal of this magnitude over the line, but Amorim wants Baleba and wants him ASAP!,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

With Rasmus Hojlund looking like he will be on his way to AC Milan and Chelsea eyeing Alejandro Garnacho, a move for Carlos Baleba cannot be ruled out.

A frantic end to the window awaits all United fans.

  • Man United plot Ollie Watkins move amid Sesko uncertainty

Man United plot Ollie Watkins move amid Sesko uncertainty

    [ad_1]

Manchester United remain firmly in the race to sign RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko but are now considering Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins as a potential alternative, according to The Sun.

United have already agreed personal terms with Sesko, yet face stiff competition from Newcastle United, who are believed to have tabled a higher bid. Reports suggest the 21-year-old Slovenian has also agreed terms with the Magpies, though he hasn’t made a final decision.

Amid financial constraints and the risk of missing out, United are preparing contingency plans. Ollie Watkins has emerged as a serious target, with the England international said to be “very keen” on a move to Old Trafford.

Watkins Could Be a Smart Signing

At 28, Watkins brings proven Premier League experience and a reliable goal-scoring record. While not as young or long-term a prospect as Sesko, he would offer United an immediate solution in the No.9 role.

His familiarity with the English top flight means he would likely require little adaptation time — a key advantage for a side looking to hit the ground running under incoming manager Ruben Amorim. Moreover, Watkins’ price tag, reportedly around £40 million, makes him a cost-effective option compared to Sesko and could come with lower wage demands.

    Still Hope for Sesko?

Despite Newcastle’s financial edge and Champions League status, United remain optimistic about landing Sesko. The striker has already shown willingness by agreeing personal terms, and the pull of Old Trafford — especially with a fresh project under Amorim — could yet tilt the decision in United’s favour.

Regardless of which direction United take, both options represent quality additions. Sesko offers long-term potential, while Watkins brings immediate Premier League pedigree.

Rasmus Hojlund could be on his way to AC Milan as initial agreement reached – Man United News And Transfer News

    [ad_1]

Now that Benjamin Sesko has agreed to move to Manchester United, the Red Devils are trying to get rid of Rasmus Hojlund.

The Dane struggled big-time last term, managing a mere four Premier League goals while generally disappointing with his gameplay.

He has publicly declared his intention to stay and fight for his place, but with a move for Carlos Baleba also in the pipeline, INEOS need outgoings to balance the books.

There was interest from Inter Milan, but United’s insistence on a permanent exit meant the Nerazzurri eventually opted to head in a different direction.

Their arch-rivals AC Milan are ready to take advantage, with United much more open to the idea of a loan. They, however, want an option to buy to be added along with a loan fee.

United want £40 million to part ways with Rasmus Hojlund

As per journalist Ben Jacobs, the 20-time English league champions are demanding a £35 million buy option and an overall fee of £40 million inclusive of that loan fee.

“Milan are working on a deal to sign Rasmus Hojlund. Manchester United want £40m. Milan are prepared to do a loan with a £35m buy option. Loan fee would take package close to #MUFC’s valuation.

“Hojlund on record as wanting to stay, but Manchester United prefer to sell,” the journalist wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Calciomercato have added that an initial agreement between both clubs over the loan fee has been reached with the Rossoneri expected to pay €6 million initially.

However, Rasmus Hojlund is still not convinced. He remains intrigued by the possibility of a return to Italy, but until United push him out, he is willing to stay and fight.

“Hojlund’s candidacy for the Milanese attack is gaining traction. AC Milan have reached a verbal agreement with Manchester United for a €6 million loan.

    Initial agreement reached

“Negotiations are still needed on the option to buy , but an initial agreement in principle has been reached on one aspect of the deal. This represents a step forward for AC Milan’s future number 9.

“Hojlund is considering the AC Milan option in depth. The Dane’s agent is already working to determine the level of openness on both sides: if the clubs reach a full agreement on all the details of the deal, the player, who recently expressed his desire to play his cards in Manchester, will also need to be convinced.

“As things stand, while intrigued, Hojlund’s priority remains staying with the Red Devils.”

His desire is admirable, but it is clear that he needs to regain his confidence after a demoralizing previous campaign and playing in the Serie A will suit his strengths.

INEOS will hope he can shine back on familiar grounds, so that Milan end up triggering the buy option.

Benjamin Sesko’s Manchester United salary details emerge – Man United News And Transfer News

    [ad_1]

Details have emerged of the wages that RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko will command at Manchester United.

Sesko on brink of finalising United move

Sesko is close to finalising his blockbuster transfer from Leipzig to United after the two clubs reached an agreement on Thursday.

United had been pursuing Sesko for weeks, but they were not alone in their interest as Newcastle were also seriously on the hunt for his signature.

The Magpies tabled two offers for Sesko, the latest one valuing him at €90m. Newcastle also offered the forward significantly higher wages than United had put on the table. However, Sesko still rejected them and chose the Red Devils, whose offer was actually a bit lower.

United are expected to pay Leipzig an initial £66.3m and the rest in potential add-ons. The total package is worth around £73.3m.

Sesko has already landed in Manchester as he looks to undergo his medical and sign his contract before he can officially be considered a United player.

Fabrizio Romano revealed United are planning to unveil the 22-year-old on Saturday, just before their pre-season meeting with Fiorentina at Old Trafford.

Now, a Slovenian journalist has disclosed the exact sum Sesko is set to pocket at United.

    Sesko’s salary details

According to Sportklub journalist Rok Viškovič, Sesko is in line to net £160,000 per week at United. This figure is expected to rise once the Red Devils secure a return to the Champions League.

Viškovič wrote on X, “How much will Benjamin Sesko earn at Manchester United?”

“According to my information, £160,000 per week, which amounts to just over £8 million or just under €10 million per year.”

“The contract also includes a clause stating that – if Manchester United qualifies for the Champions League – his deal will improve by 25 percent, to £200,000 per week (approximately €230,000).”

At £160,000 per week, Sesko would be earning just a bit more than Mbeumo and Luke Shaw (as per Capology).

Sesko is expected to put pen to paper on a five-year contract until 2030.

Pictures: Manchester United players move into stunning new-look Carrington – Man United News And Transfer News

    [ad_1]

Manchester United have confirmed that Ruben Amorim and his players returned to a new and revamped Carrington training facility on Wednesday morning.

    Carrington undergoes improvements

Last year, United confirmed that they had initiated work on an ambitious £50m project that would see Carrington be transformed into a “world-class” complex.

A big part of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s bid to become co-owner of United was to invest heavily in improving United’s infrastructure after several years of neglect and pitiful management by the Glazer family.

Award-winning and Manchester-born architect Lord Norman Foster was hired to oversee the renovations at Carrington.

United noted that they planned to revamp the gym, medical, nutrition and recovery areas and insisted there was “a design emphasis on creating more space for collaboration and innovation among players and staff.”

The project ran throughout the entire 2024/25 season and was set to officially open just before the start of the upcoming campaign.

Last week, Amorim said about the redeveloped Carrington, “It’s like a new start with different standards and I think to go to our building, to the new building is like a fresh start.”

“So, I think the timing is completely perfect to do everything. The good thing is that everybody’s aligned what we need to do and now it’s to win games, game by game try to win every game and the performance are really important as well.”

Now, United have announced that the players have returned to a new-look Carrington following the completion of their United States pre-season tour.

United players return to new-look Carrington

The club relayed in a statement, “While away in the States, the refurbishment of our Carrington training complex was completed and the players have now moved in.”

“The innovative new facility will officially open with a ribbon-cutting event on Friday.”

The post below features some photos of the players inside the upgraded facility.

United also teased the Carrington’s opening on social media.

United are back in action on Saturday when they take on Fiorentina in their final pre-season clash before the Premier League campaign kicks off.

Gianluigi Donnarumma: Opening bid from Manchester United ready – Man United News And Transfer News

    [ad_1]

Manchester United’s goalkeeping problem is yet to be solved, but INEOS certainly have plans to remedy this before the summer transfer window closes.

Andre Onana is currently injured, and even if he returns, Ruben Amorim would love for a new shot-stopper given the number of times his No.1 let him down last season.

Backup keeper Altay Bayindir also struggled last term, and with his future likely to lie away from Old Trafford, United could do with help in the market.

Emiliano Martinez seemed to be the preferred choice but Aston Villa’s asking price meant a deal never materialised with United’s loan offer getting rebuffed.

PSG want to sell Gianluigi Donnarumma

Now, Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has emerged as a legitimate target, with the Champions League winners keen to move him on instead of losing him on a free next season.

There were rumours of the Italian staying put, but now, Stretty News have claimed that United are preparing their first official offer for the “generational” goalkeeper.

PSG reportedly valued Donnarumma at more than £30 million, but INEOS are preparing to submit an opening offer in the region of £26 million.

“Manchester United are ready to launch an onslaught for Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, whose future is engulfed in uncertainty.

    United preparing opening offer

“Sources close to Stretty News reveal that Man Utd are preparing to launch an offer worth £26 million for the Euro 2020 hero. This figure might be deemed sufficient, given that the player’s contract will expire in less than a year.

“These sources also confirm Donnarumma’s great desire to embark on a new career chapter in the Premier League.”

So far this window, the Red Devils have refrained from submitting an offer for a target if the player has not expressed his desire to move to Manchester, as seen from the Benjamin Sesko case.

If this report is true, the former AC Milan ace seems to be keen on a switch to Old Trafford even without Champions League football.

That explains why he has rejected mega-money moves to Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

The Parisian club have their eyes on Lucas Chevalier and Martinez as possible replacements.

Man United’s Benjamin Sesko battle with Newcastle United: major update emerges this evening – Man United News And Transfer News

    [ad_1]

Manchester United’s battle with Newcastle United for the signature of RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko took a huge twist this evening according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein.

    A tale of two cities

The two clubs have been locking horms over the transfer of the young striker, with Newcastle already having had a €75 million plus €5 million bid rejected by the German outfit.

It has been widely reported that the player was biding his time in deciding which club he would prefer to join, while for their part, United were said to be willing to match Newcastle’s bid for him.

    A new bid comes in

In a major update this evening, the renowned Ornstein claims that:

“Red Bull Leipzig have received an improved offer from Newcastle United to sign Benjamin Sesko.”

He added that the opening €75m + €5m bid “was deemed insufficient by Leipzig, leading Newcastle to raise that to at least €80m.

    Cold Feet

The hammer blow for United fans came in the reporter’s next sentence:

“Sesko is also wanted by Manchester United, but a proposal has yet to arrive from Old Trafford and the figures they have indicated a willingness to pay are lower than those of Newcastle at present.

He adds that Newcastle are now in a much stronger position than United “after a day of positive talks held by their co-owner Jamie Reuben with Leipzig and the 22-year-old striker.”

Ornstein does offer hope to United, noting that Sesko’s preference will determine the outcome to some extent. There is a “gentleman’s agreement” in place between player and club that he will be allowed to leave if a suitable offer comes in.

The reporter believes it unlikely, however, that Leipzig would agree to sell to United for a fee they have already rejected from Newcastle even if the player’s preference were to join the Red Devils.

United will bid if the player picks them

Another top tier reporter, Fabrizio Romano, corroborated Ornstein’s story this evening, adding that they “confirmed again to RB Leipzig that they will bid if Šeško picks them.”
